Safety systems maintenance engineer including reactive calls

Key tasks

  • Responsible for maintenance as per level 2 and phase 2 reactive calls to sites where customers have called in faulty systems (when senior guy is already on job).

  • Part of the OOH call out rota.

  • To carry enhanced van stock to achieve high 1st fix rate.

They will functionally report to the Senior/Responsible Engineer for the projects (this could be different people from project to project).

This role will require strong stakeholder management of operators and maintainers, operation management, safety case managers, nuclear custodians, OTG, construction and commissioning staff etc throughout the lifecycle but especially during the stakeholder requirements definition process and requirements analysis process.

As a key role within the Integrated Project Team (IPT) the individual will work closely with other design disciplines, human factors, quality, cost controls, REs & AEMs, systems engineers and OTG.

  • Develop custom rules, scripts, and extensions using Java, BeanShell, XML, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to provisioning, connectors, access control, and integration failures.
  • Build automation to support onboarding/offboarding, role assignment, and identity lifecycle events.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec, DevOps, and Compliance teams to strengthen governance, audit readiness, and least-privilege access standards.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise security, scalability, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Support production operations, including incident response, triage, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Hands-on engineering experience with SailPoint
  • Deep understanding of IAM principles: RBAC, least privilege, access certification, governance workflows.
  • Integration experience with identity data sources: Active Directory, LDAP, HRIS, AWS, ServiceNow, databases.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across provisioning, connector issues, and identity lifecycle processes.
