WSSE are integral in the development of weapon systems and system architectures, and as a result we have developed a capability supporting developments across the full product life cycle.

The team integrate real products, models and synthetic environments to provide visualisations, demonstrations, verification & validation as well as training capability and support.

The role support the development of the worlds most advanced defence systems from the initial concept all the way through to in service support and training, using a range of simulation technologies, including digital twins and emulators.
Working with Project Leads and Simulation Architects to design and develop simulation components as an end to end representation of a weapon System in a synthetic environment using C#, C++ and integration simulations, supporting a number of industry standards.
You will work as part of a heterogeneous agile development team, made up of mixed discipline engineers working in synergy to develop simulations and representations of real equipment.

We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to support delivery of works on the high-profile Net Zero Teesside scheme. This is a major infrastructure project contributing to the UK’s decarbonisation strategy and energy transition goals.

The Section Engineer will take responsibility for a defined section of works, coordinating site engineers, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure safe, compliant and programme-driven delivery.

Role Responsibilities

As Section Engineer, you will:

Take ownership of a specific section of works from planning through to completion

Coordinate and supervise Site Engineers working within your section

  • Knowledge of integration of detection systems into other disciplines would be a real advantage.
  • Good communication skills are required as the majority of the role will involve being in a customer facing environment.
  • The ability to work alone and effectively organise your time.
  • A good understanding of the Standards which relate to our Industry and the systems we install is required.
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety is essential.

As an Lift Engineer Apprentice, you’ll work within a supportive team, combining hands-on experience with classroom-based learning to achieve an NVQ Level 3 qualification-essential for a career as a Lift and Escalator Engineer.

Your training will be fully supported by OTIS and our trusted apprenticeship provider.

Once qualified as a New Equipment Lift Engineer, you’ll install brand-new equipment and manage the installation process from start to finish. You’ll work on construction sites throughout the year, moving between locations as projects progress.

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking aspiring engineers with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for teamwork. You should have:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/Grade 4 or above, including Maths, English, and a STEM subject
  • Minimum age of 18, a valid driving license, and access to a vehicle
  • A willingness to attend and complete all required training throughout the apprenticeship
  • You will require your own laptop

JOB TITLE: Gate Automation/Service Engineer

ROLE OVERVIEW for aGate Automation/Service Engineer:

Gate Control Ltd is seeking an experienced Gate Automation Engineer/Service Engineer to join its service and maintenance division. This role is aligned with Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) guidance, including DHF Code of Practice for Powered Gates and Traffic Barriers, and current UK safety legislation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, fault diagnosis, repair, and safety compliance of automated gate systems, barriers, bollards, and associated equipment. Knowledge of roller shutters would be advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESfor aGate Automation/Service Engineer:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive service works in accordance with DHF guidance, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures.
  • Service, maintain and fault find on systems including automated gates, automatic barriers, rising and fixed bollards.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults safely and efficiently.
  • Work on systems including those manufactured by DEA, BFT, FAAC, NICE, BENINCA, and SEA.
  • Inspect, test, and verify safety devices.
  • Carry out force testing, risk assessments, and safety evaluations in line with DHF guidance and relevant British and European Standards.
  • Identify non-compliant or unsafe systems and report findings in accordance with company and DHF procedures.
  • Complete service reports, force test records, risk assessments, and job documentation accurately.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site managers, and colleagues.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including safe systems of work.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota when required.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS REQUIRED

  • ECS or CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK
  • Proven experience as a gate automation/service engineer
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Good understanding of gate safety principles, force limitation, and safe operation
  • Background knowledge of roller shutters or industrial doors (preferred)
  • Strong fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to complete DHF-approved training courses where required
  • Ability to communicate professionally with a customer-focused approach

  • To understand and be an integral part of the commissioning process with third party subcontractors.
  • Take responsibility for proving/testing system/software configuration activities and cause and effect functionality.
  • Be aware of the programme for commissioning activities against project milestones.
  • Provide technical support to the engineering and design team as required.
  • Ensure timesheets and all other relevant paperwork is completed on time.
  • Undertake any relevant training as required.
  • Ensure all relevant H&S requirements are complied with.
  • Secondment to the Service Department as required by the business or on to any other projects as required.
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of yourself and the team in accordance with Company policy.
  • To actively support at all times, company policy and best practice in the area of fire and security, with particular emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer information.
