We’re looking for a Junior Network/Hardware Engineer to join the Cardiff-based team. You’ll be working fully onsite with physical hardware, legacy storage systems, connectivity and networking
This would suit someone who wants a hands-on role, has excellent problem solving skills, thrives on finding solutions to tech challenges and want to begin a career in Data Migration with a leading Consultancy. setups, to extracting and restoring critical information for clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working on data extraction and restoration projects for a variety of clients
Setting up and configuring restoration equipment
Handling legacy hardware, storage devices, and connectivity challenges
Troubleshooting hardware and network configurations
Writing up documentation and restoration procedures
Collaborating closely with the Data Services Manager to improve restoration processes and tools
Experience within any of the below an advantage
HND or Degree in Computing (or equivalent experience)
Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux systems a benefit
Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, programs, and network services
Comfortable working with physical hardware, RAID systems, and network cabling
Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, VB, or similar)
Good understanding of networking, connectivity, and data migration fundamentals
Bonus points if you have:
Experience configuring or using backup-to-tape software (TSM, BackupExec, Arcserve, etc.)
Knowledge of SQL querying, tape libraries, or data storage systems
