At Neptune, our technology underpins everything we do - from seamless operations in our warehouses to delivering exceptional digital experiences for our customers. We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to play a key leadership role in keeping that technology running smoothly, securely, and efficiently.
As deputy to the Cloud and Infrastructure Manager, you’ll provide senior-level technical expertise across cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security, ensuring Neptune’s IT estate is robust, scalable, and fit for the future. You’ll also act as the primary escalation point for technical issues, supporting both the Infrastructure and Service Desk teams.
In this role, you’ll blend hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight - helping Neptune evolve its infrastructure while keeping everyday operations running seamlessly.
Day to day, you lead and inspire, guiding and supporting the team to do their very best, whilst providing senior technical escalation and 3rd line support, mentoring others to grow their expertise, alongside:
* Supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
* Ensuring all systems are secure, patched, resilient, and proactively monitored, leading on IT security, reviewing reports and responding to incidents swiftly and effectively.
* Contribute to Neptune’s business continuity, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
* Provide subject matter expertise on infrastructure improvements, lifecycle management, and capacity planning.
* Keep clear, up-to-date documentation and procedures that support operational excellence.
* Partner with teams across Technology and the wider business to deliver infrastructure projects and support transformation initiatives.
* Stay ahead of emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
You’ll bring proven experience in a senior infrastructure or systems engineering role, demonstrated technical competency across several of the following: Microsoft Server Operating Systems, M365 Ecosystem, Microsoft Azure, MS SQL, Firewalls, Routing & Switching, SD-WAN, Microsoft Intune / Autopilot, MDR systems (e.g., Arctic Wolf, CrowdStrike), IT Security Principles, DNS, and Monitoring Solutions. We’d love it if you have sector experience in retail, manufacturing, warehouse distribution, or Digital Marketing.
You’ll be someone who is approachable, confident, and collaborative - a natural problem solver who thrives under pressure and highly organised, structured, and calm when managing competing priorities. It’s important that you are a clear communicator who can build trust and influence across technical and non-technical teams. Passion really drives us here, so you’ll also be enthusiastic about technology and continuous improvement - always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to work.
