The Technical Architect for InFlight Retail provides domain level technical leadership for a critical part of easyJet’s customer and commercial ecosystem. This role defines, shapes and governs the architecture for all systems involved in onboard retail — including level technical leadership for a critical part of easyJet’s customer and commercial ecosystem.

You’ll have a real opportunity to define, shape and govern the architecture for all systems involved in onboard retail — including point of sale devices, retail platforms, catalogue and pricing systems, payments, supply chain integration, and post flight reconciliation. The role partners with delivery teams, suppliers and business stakeholders to simplify complexity and drive technical change across the domain.

This is a permanent opportunity, based in Luton! (Hybrid Working)

What you’ll be doing

  • Own the target-state architecture for the inflight retail domain
  • Define standards, patterns and principles across the platform
  • Shape the evolution of legacy systems toward modular, event-driven, cloud-friendly designs
  • Develop and maintain domain roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy
  • Manage the technical risk register and technical debt register
  • Ensure consistency with security, performance, reliability and operational readiness requirements
  • Lead architecture reviews and support Technical Design Authority submissions
  • Translate business needs into clear, pragmatic technical designs
  • Guide delivery teams and suppliers to ensure architectural intent is realised
  • Produce high-quality architecture artefacts using consistent notation (Unified Modelling Language, Business Process Model and Notation,
  • Context–Container–Component models, ArchiMate)
  • Ensure integration designs are robust, scalable and easy to operate
  • Understand inventory flows, payments, offline-first design and retail reconciliation processes
  • Shape data flows between inflight systems, retail platforms, ground systems, flight systems, retail platforms, ground systems and financial processes
  • Ensure solutions work safely and reliably in an operational airline environment
  • Mentor engineers and promote good architectural practice
  • Support proof of concepts for new retail experiences, data insights, concepts for new retail experiences, data insights and crew tooling
  • Improve documentation quality, pattern libraries and architecture processes

Requirements of the Role

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Technical Architect or Senior Engineer
  • Background in retail, ecommerce, payments, logistics-commerce, payments, logistics or transport
  • Strong understanding of; integration patterns, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, data flows & domain driven thinking
  • Comfortable working with legacy systems and shaping their evolution
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence
  • Knowledge of mobile/edge devices
  • Familiarity with downstream financial processing and reconciliation
