Senior Robotics Software Engineer C++

London EC1V - Hybrid

Build software that powers unmanned systems already deployed in the real world.

At sees.ai, we’ve developed a system that is already being used to inspect critical national infrastructure - operating in live environments, not simulations.

Now, following a major contract with National Grid and recent investment, we’re scaling that system into a robust, production ready platform.

We’re looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer to help take a working system and evolve it into something reliable, scalable, and ready for wider deployment.

The Role

This is a systems focused engineering role, not a narrow backend position.

You’ll work across the core software stack that powers our unmanned systems - contributing to everything from flight control and mission systems, through to simulation, connectivity, and operator interfaces.

You’ll be working on software that directly impacts how the system behaves in the field, with a short feedback loop between development and real world use.

This is an environment where:

  • Systems are already deployed and used in live operations
  • Issues are visible, tangible, and worth solving
  • Improvements can be tested and validated quickly

You’ll balance hands on development and debugging with longer term architectural thinking as the platform evolves.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining features across the unmanned systems software stack
  • Working on systems including:
    • Flight and mission control
    • Autonomy algorithms (e.g. path planning, obstacle avoidance)
    • Pilot interfaces with 3D visualisation
    • Connectivity between drone and control systems
    • Simulation and testing environments
  • Debugging and improving system behaviour based on real world operational feedback
  • Supporting testing and deployment alongside integration and operations teams
  • Writing tests, documentation, and improving system reliability
  • Contributing to architecture and technical direction as we scale

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience in modern C++ (production systems)
  • Solid understanding of software design, architecture, and debugging complex systems
  • Interest in or exposure to robotics / autonomous systems, such as:
  • Control systems
  • Sensor fusion
  • Path planning
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • A pragmatic mindset - able to balance speed, reliability, and real world constraints

Nice to Have

  • Python (for tooling, testing, or analysis)
  • Experience with simulation environments
  • Networking or distributed systems knowledge
  • Familiarity with CMake or similar build systems
  • Experience with robotics, embedded systems, or real world autonomous platforms

How You’ll Work

This role suits someone who:

  • Enjoys working across the full system, not just one layer
  • Wants to see their work used and tested in the real world
  • Takes ownership of problems and follows them through to resolution
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and evolving systems
  • Thrives in a collaborative, fast moving team

Why Join sees.ai

  • See your code deployed on operational systems within days
  • Work on problems where software meets the physical world
  • Be part of a high performing, innovative and motivated team scaling a proven system into production
  • Contribute to technology with visible impact on the world’s energy security
  • sees.ai has a friendly, down to earth culture where people enjoy working together and take pride in what they build.
  • Teams collaborate closely across engineering, operations and commercial roles, sharing ideas openly and supporting each other to solve complex problems.
  • There is real excitement in working on cutting edge autonomous technology, but it is balanced by a thoughtful, responsible approach.

About sees.ai

We’re building the operating system for large scale unmanned inspection operations - enabling systems to be controlled remotely and deployed reliably in real world environments.

Our technology is transforming how critical infrastructure is inspected, making it safer, more efficient, and scalable.

You’ll join at a pivotal stage, where a working system is being scaled into a robust platform, and where your work will directly shape how that happens.

Forward Deployed Engineer

Full time

Hybrid

London preferred, UK wide considered

Capitol AI builds sovereign intelligence infrastructure for the world’s most consequential institutions. A wrong answer here carries regulatory, financial, or national security weight. The platform deploys entirely within customer controlled environments, transforming proprietary data into auditable, repeatable, decision grade artifacts with no data egress and full traceability.

We are expanding across the United Kingdom. Our clients span central government departments, City financial institutions, and global professional services firms: environments where precision, discretion, and institutional trust are the baseline, not the benchmark.

This Forward Deployed Engineer role is the technical and strategic presence at the point of deployment. You are the person who makes Capitol’s infrastructure work inside some of the most demanding and consequential environments in the country.

The Role

You will own the full deployment lifecycle: from technical integration and workflow configuration through stakeholder enablement and ongoing production support. You will work directly with analysts, compliance teams, procurement leads, and senior executives across UK government agencies, financial institutions, and professional services firms. Some client environments will involve classified or sensitive data handling, and you will be expected to operate with the appropriate levels of rigour and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with enterprise clients to understand their data landscape, business objectives, and technical constraints, translating institutional requirements into governed, production grade AI deployments.
  • Design and deploy agentic AI applications that integrate Capitol’s core platform into customer systems and mission critical workflows, including secure and restricted environments.
  • Build connectors, data pipelines, and custom integrations that enable proprietary data to flow securely and efficiently within customer controlled infrastructure.
  • Prototype and deliver new use cases leveraging large language models, retrieval augmented generation, and multi agent orchestration, configured to institutional standards.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor across pilots, integrations, and scaled production deployments, navigating complex stakeholder environments with composure and credibility.
  • Collaborate with Capitol’s product and engineering teams to surface frontline client insights that shape roadmap priorities and implementation frameworks.
  • Contribute to reusable implementation playbooks, documentation, and best practices that accelerate deployment across UK and EU client accounts.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 7+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or applied ML, ideally in a customer facing, consulting, or deployment capacity.
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent; hands on experience with APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and data processing pipelines.
  • Direct experience deploying AI technologies including LLMs, RAG architectures, embeddings, and vector databases within complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrable ability to work directly with enterprise clients, including C suite, technical leads, and procurement or compliance stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in fast moving, ambiguous environments where the deployment playbook is still being written.
  • Familiarity with regulated or sensitive data environments in financial services, public sector, or defence, and the governance requirements that accompany them.
  • Based in the United Kingdom, with willingness to travel to client sites across the UK and, where required, the EU.

Security Clearance

SC or DV clearance is a meaningful advantage, particularly for UK government and defence facing deployments, and will determine the scope of environments you are eligible to support. Candidates without existing clearance are welcome to apply. The right profile and eligibility matter more than current status, and sponsorship pathways are available for suitable candidates.

Strongly Valued

  • Prior experience working within or alongside UK central government, HMRC, MoD, intelligence community, or equivalent public sector bodies.
  • Background in City financial services, investment management, or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with global professional services firms (Big Four, strategy consultancies, legal) on technology deployment engagements.
  • Familiarity with UK data sovereignty requirements, GDPR compliance, and AI governance frameworks in regulated industries.
  • Experience with multimodal content generation, document processing, or structured report production at scale.
  • Prior work at an AI, data, or B2B SaaS company, or in a solutions engineering or implementation specialist capacity.

What We Offer

  • A front row seat at the deployment frontier of sovereign AI infrastructure: work that matters, in environments where it shows.
  • Direct collaboration with Capitol’s founding team, with significant influence over the UK go to market.
  • Hybrid and remote flexible working, with the expectation of regular client site presence across the UK.
  • The opportunity to define implementation standards for one of the fastest growing enterprise AI platforms serving Western sovereign institutions.

Intercom is the AI Customer Service company on a mission to help businesses provide incredible customer experiences.

Our AI agent Fin, the most advanced customer service AI agent on the market, lets businesses deliver always on, impeccable customer service and ultimately transform their customer experiences for the better. Fin can also be combined with our Helpdesk to become a complete solution called the Intercom Customer Service Suite, which provides AI enhanced support for the more complex or high touch queries that require a human agent.

Founded in 2011 and trusted by nearly 30,000 global businesses, Intercom is setting the new standard for customer service. Driven by our core values, we push boundaries, build with speed and intensity, and consistently deliver incredible value to our customers.

What’s the opportunity?

We’re looking for Senior+ AI Infrastructure Engineers to build the systems that train and serve Intercom’s next generation of AI products.

Intercom is an AI company that builds from the GPU all the way up to a user agent that resolves millions of customer service queries a month.

You’ll join a small, highly technical team working at the cutting edge of modern AI infrastructure. The AI Infra team built the training pipelines and runs the inference for custom models like Fin Apex, which outperforms frontier models in customer service tasks, and is the foundation of the AI Group’s full stack approach to AI.

We’re particularly interested in engineers who have:

  • A track record of working on model training or model inference at scale, or on low level GPU coding (e.g. CUDA, Triton). Experience with one is great, multiple is even better.

What will I be doing?

As a Senior AI Infrastructure Engineer focused on model training and inference, you will:

  • Implement and scale training pipelines for large transformer and LLM models, from data ingestion and preprocessing through distributed training and evaluation.
  • Build and optimize inference services that deliver low latency, high reliability experiences for our customers, including autoscaling, routing, and fallbacks.
  • Work on GPU level performance: tuning kernels, improving utilization, and identifying bottlenecks across our training and inference stack.
  • Collaborate closely with ML scientists to implement cutting edge training and inference methods and bring them to production.
  • Play an active role in hiring, mentoring, and developing other engineers on the team.
  • Raise the bar for technical standards, reliability, and operational excellence across Intercom’s AI platform.

These are indicative, not hard requirements.

We’re looking to hire Senior+ AI Infrastructure Engineers. You’re likely a great fit if:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of shipping high quality products or platforms.
  • You hold a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or you have equivalent experience with very strong fundamentals).
  • You have hands on experience with one or more of the following:
    • Model training (especially transformers and LLMs).
    • Model inference at scale (again, especially transformers and LLMs).
    • Low level GPU work, such as writing CUDA or Triton kernels.
  • Comfortable working in production environments at meaningful scale (traffic, data, or organizational).
  • You communicate clearly, can explain complex technical topics to different audiences, and enjoy close collaboration with both engineers and non engineers.
  • You take pride in strong technical fundamentals, love learning, and are willing to invest in your own development.
  • Have deep knowledge of at least one programming language (for example Python, Ruby, Java, Go, etc.). Specific language experience is less important than your ability to write clean, reliable code and learn new stacks quickly.

None of these are required, but they’re nice to have:

  • Experience at AI native companies that train and/or run inference for their own models (e.g. modern AI labs or AI native product companies).
  • Experience running training or inference workloads on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AWS or other major cloud providers.
  • Production experience with Python in ML or infrastructure contexts.
  • Demonstrated passion for technology through personal projects, open source, meetups, or publishing content about your work and learnings.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity in a fast-growing start up.
  • We serve lunch every weekday, plus a variety of snack foods and a fully stocked kitchen.
  • Unlimited access to Claude Code and best class AI tools; experimentation & building is encouraged & celebrated.
  • Pension scheme & match up to 4%.
  • Peace of mind with life assurance, as well as comprehensive health and dental insurance for you and your dependents.
  • Flexible paid time off policy.
  • Paid maternity leave, as well as 6 weeks paternity leave for fathers, to let you spend valuable time with your loved ones.
  • If you’re cycling, we’ve got you covered on the Cycle to Work Scheme. With secure bike storage too.
  • MacBooks are our standard, but we also offer Windows for certain roles when needed.

Intercom has a hybrid working policy. We believe that working in person helps us stay connected, collaborate easier and create a great culture while still providing flexibility to work from home. We expect employees to be in the office at least three days per week.

We have a radically open and accepting culture at Intercom. We avoid spending time on divisive subjects to foster a safe and cohesive work environment for everyone. As an organization, our policy is to not advocate on behalf of the company or our employees on any social or political topics out of our internal or external communications. We respect personal opinion and expression on these topics on personal social platforms on personal time, and do not challenge or confront anyone for their views on non work related topics. Our goal is to focus on doing incredible work to achieve our goals and unite the company through our core values.

Intercom values diversity and is committed to a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity. Intercom will not discriminate against an applicant or employee on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, age, physical or mental disability, veteran or military status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, or any other legally recognized protected basis under federal, state, or local law.
