Discover your future at Citi
Working at Citi is far more than just a job. A career with us means joining a team of more than 230,000 dedicated people from around the globe. At Citi, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community and make a real impact.

Job Overview
Engineer the future of global finance. At Citi, our Tech team doesn’t just support finance - we are helping to redefine it. Every day, $5 trillion crosses through our network. We do business in 180+ countries operating at a scale few can match. From deploying advanced AI to helping shape global markets, we build systems that matter. Look to join a team where your work helps influence economies, your ideas can drive innovation and outcomes, and your growth is backed by mentorship, continuous learning and flexibility with potential hybrid work opportunities. Help solve real-world challenges that touch millions and get the opportunity to build the future of finance with Citi Tech.

Help shape the next generation of AI-powered products in Markets Technology. Join a small, high-impact engineering team in Citi Markets Technology building greenfield Generative AI products that cut across asset classes and push beyond proof-of-concept into real production value. We are looking for AI-first engineers who are excited not just by using the latest LLMs, agents, and emerging design patterns, but by applying them with strong engineering discipline, sound judgement, and a relentless focus on quality. If you want to work on ambitious problems, shape solutions from the ground up, and help define how AI is engineered in one of the most interesting environments in finance, this is the role for you.

The Team
We are a fast-moving team specialising in Generative AI within Markets Technology. Our focus is on building greenfield products that span multiple markets asset classes, solving real problems with modern AI engineering approaches. We work at the frontier of what is practical and valuable with LLMs - exploring agentic patterns, orchestration approaches, retrieval techniques, and emerging design ideas - while staying grounded in the fundamentals of robust software engineering. That balance matters to us.
This is an opportunity to join a team that is still small enough for every engineer to have genuine influence, but already delivering work that is making waves across Markets Technology.

The Role
As a Vice President in the team, you will be a hands-on engineer building and shaping next-generation AI systems for Markets. You will design and develop production-grade services and applications, primarily in Python, and help turn fast-evolving AI capabilities into scalable, maintainable, well-engineered solutions.

You will work on greenfield initiatives from idea through to production, contributing not only code but also architecture, patterns, engineering standards, and product thinking. We are looking for people who can see the bigger picture, bring ideas, challenge assumptions, and help us build the right thing - not just build the thing right.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and evolve Generative AI solutions for Markets use cases across asset classes
  • Engineer production-quality applications and services using Python
  • Apply modern AI patterns including LLM orchestration, agentic workflows, retrieval-based approaches, and structured evaluation techniques
  • Contribute to system architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with a strong focus on quality and long-term ownership
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product partners, and business stakeholders to shape solutions with real impact
  • Use AI not only in the products we build, but also in the way we engineer - agentic development with Devin, CoPilot and more!
  • Bring initiative, curiosity, and original thinking to complex problems in a fast-moving space

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong software engineering experience, with deep hands-on expertise in Python
  • Experience building scalable, production-grade systems rather than just prototypes
  • Practical experience with Generative AI, LLM-based applications, or agentic systems
  • A strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals, including design, testing, maintainability, and code quality
  • An appreciation for the craft of code - we write Python, but we value the discipline, clarity, and rigor often associated with strongly typed languages
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, take ownership, and move ideas forward
  • Engineers who think beyond tickets and requirements, and want to contribute to the overall shape of the solution
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

What Makes This Role Different
This is not a role focused on maintaining legacy systems or building isolated demos. This is a chance to help define how Generative AI is applied in Markets at meaningful scale. You will join a team that values engineering excellence, speed, and creativity in equal measure - a team using the latest AI capabilities, but doing so with the seriousness and technical depth needed to build real platforms and products.
If you are excited by greenfield AI engineering, passionate about modern software craft, and want to work in a team where your ideas and technical judgement will genuinely matter, we’d love to hear from you.

What we’ll provide you
By joining Citi, you will not only be part of a business casual workplace with a hybrid working model (up to 2 days working at home per week), but also receive a competitive base salary (which is annually reviewed), and enjoy a whole host of additional benefits such as:

  • 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
  • A discretional annual performance related bonus
  • Private Medical Care & Life Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Pension Plan
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Special discounts for employees, family, and friends
  • Access to an array of learning and development resources

Visit ourGlobal Benefitspage to learn more.
Alongside these benefits Citi is committed to ensuring our workplace is where everyone feels comfortable coming to work as their whole self, every day. We want the best talent around the world to be energized to join us, motivated to stay and empowered to thrive.

About Man Group

Man Group is a global alternative investment management firm focused on pursuing outperformance for sophisticated clients via our Systematic, Discretionary and Solutions offerings. Powered by talent and advanced technology, our single and multi-manager investment strategies are underpinned by deep research and span public and private markets, across all major asset classes, with a significant focus on alternatives. Man Group takes a partnership approach to working with clients, establishing deep connections and creating tailored solutions to meet their investment goals and those of the millions of retirees and savers they represent.

Headquartered in London, we manage $227.6 billion* and operate across multiple offices globally. Man Group plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker EMG.LN and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Further information can be found at

* As at 31 December 2025

The Team

Man Group has been at the forefront of applying technology and data science to investment management for over three decades. Today, that legacy is driving a firm-wide AI transformation with over 1,500 employees using our AI platform daily, adoption has reached a critical inflection point and momentum continues to build. We’re now hiring an AI specialist to partner with teams across the business, turning that momentum into tangible, measurable outcomes.

This is not a research role. It’s not a pure engineering role. It’s the person who sits at the intersection of business problems and AI capabilities, and makes things happen. You’ll become an expert in how Man Group operates our products, our processes, our systems, our people and use that knowledge to identify where AI creates the most value, then build it, ship it, and help others do the same.

You’ll work across the entire firm: sitting with a Sales team to understand why an RFP takes 5 days, then building a prototype that gets it to 48 hours. Running a workshop with Legal to map their document review process, then designing an AI workflow that halves the time. Helping a Portfolio Manager understand what Claude Code can do for their research process, then pairing with them to build it.

You’ll shape the role, the approach and help drive strategy.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Gets energy from solving other people’s problems, not just their own

  • Is curious about how a business actually works the messy reality, not the org chart

  • Can context-switch between a deeply technical conversation and a commercial one in the same meeting

  • Has the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and the humility to learn from them

  • Sees AI as a tool for making people more capable

Role Responsibilities

Accelerate education and engagement

  • Become the person people come to when they want to understand what’s possible with AI at Man
  • Run workshops, pair-building sessions, and demos that turn sceptics into users and users into builders
  • Help leaders in each business unit define their highest-value AI projects and build the skills to deliver them
  • Create reusable patterns, templates, and playbooks that scale your impact beyond 1:1 engagements

Solve real business problems with AI

  • Embed with business units to understand their processes, pain points, and opportunities at a detailed level
  • Rapidly prototype AI-powered solutions using Python, LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI), and the MAIA platform (our internal platform)
  • Build end-to-end: from scoping the problem with stakeholders through to a working tool they can use
  • Focus on time-to-value: ship early, iterate fast, measure outcomes

Drive process transformation

  • Map end-to-end business processes (client lifecycle, reporting chains, operational workflows) and identify where AI creates the highest leverage
  • Design AI-first workflows that don’t just automate the existing process but reimagine it
  • Work with the strategy team to deliver cross-cutting improvements that benefit multiple business units
  • Build the business case: define metrics, measure before and after, present outcomes to leadership

Build the AI product knowledge

  • Become an expert in MAIA’s capabilities: what it can do today, what’s on the roadmap, where the gaps are
  • Stay current on AI tooling, techniques, and best practices and translate them into practical applications for Man
  • Bridge between the AI engineering team (who build the platform) and the business (who use it) translating requirements in both directions
  • Contribute to the platform: build skills, integrations, and workflows that become part of MAIA’s shared capability

Key Competencies

Essential

  • 5–8 years’ experience in roles that combined technical delivery with business problem-solving. Could be: AI/ML engineering with client-facing work, management consulting with a technical edge, product management for AI/data products, or solutions engineering at a technology company.
  • Python skills. You don’t need to be a systems engineer, but you must be able to build prototypes, work with APIs, process data and help design features.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs. You’ve built things with Claude, GPT, or equivalent. You understand prompting, RAG, tool use, agents, and the practical limitations. You know when AI is the right tool and when it isn’t.
  • Exceptional stakeholder skills. You can sit with a senior portfolio manager, a head of operations, or a sales lead and earn their trust. You listen before you solve. You communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bias for action. You’d rather ship a working prototype in a week than a perfect specification in a month. You’re comfortable operating with ambiguity and making progress without waiting for permission.
  • Systems thinking. You can look at a business process and see the system: inputs, transformations, outputs, feedback loops, bottlenecks. You think in workflows, not features.

Advantageous

  • Financial services experience particularly asset management, investment operations, or capital markets
  • Experience with enterprise AI deployments at scale (not just experiments)
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agent frameworks, or AI workflow orchestration
  • Experience training or educating others on AI tools and techniques
  • Understanding of data engineering: pipelines, integrations, data quality, metadata management

Inclusion, Work-Life Balance and Benefits at Man Group
You’ll thrive in our working environment that champions equality of opportunity. Your unique perspective will contribute to our success, joining a workplace where inclusion is fundamental and deeply embedded in our culture and values. Through our external and internal initiatives, partnerships and programmes, you’ll find opportunities to grow, develop your talents, and help foster an inclusive environment for all across our firm and industry. Learn more at .

You’ll have opportunities to make a difference through our charitable and global initiatives, while advancing your career through professional development, and with flexible working arrangements available too. Like all our people, you’ll receive two annual ‘Mankind’ days of paid leave for community volunteering.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes competitive holiday entitlements, pension/401k, life and long-term disability coverage, group sick pay, enhanced parental leave and long-service leave. Depending on your location, you may also enjoy additional benefits such as private medical coverage, discounted gym membership options and pet insurance.

Private salary

Head of Machine Learning Modeling

A global quantitative trading organization built around engineering excellence, scientific thinking, and fully automated trading.

Our teams create everything in-house—from the research infrastructure to the algorithms that run live in markets around the world.

We trade a wide mix of products, including equities, derivatives, options, commodities, rates, and crypto using both high-frequency and mid-frequency strategies.

Our dedicated team members are located across multiple continents, and while we maintain physical offices, our workflow is currently designed for a remote environment.

About the Role

We’re hiring an experienced ML leader to guide the next generation of predictive modeling that powers our research and trading systems. In this role, you’ll own the strategy, design, and execution of our modeling framework—from architecture choices to validation standards to production governance.

You’ll collaborate closely with quant researchers, data specialists, engineers, and traders to turn cutting-edge research into reliable, high-performance models used in live trading.

Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for one of the most critical layers of our research platform—the modeling engine that feeds our trading systems. Your work will influence how we research, validate, and deploy ML-driven signals across the firm.

  • Setting the long-term vision for our model portfolio, covering everything from boosted trees to time-series deep learning, graph-based models, and advanced architectures for order-book prediction.
  • Designing training pipelines that enforce strict data hygiene—rolling and walk-forward validation, target construction, and leakage-free workflows.
  • Building explainability and diagnostic tooling (SHAP, permutation tests, model dissection techniques) to understand model behavior.
  • Developing ensemble strategies and regime-aware model routing.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of ML researchers, shaping best practices for experimentation and documentation.
  • Partnering with engineering and trading teams to ensure smooth deployment of models into live trading systems.

Requirements/Core Experience

  • 5+ years working with machine learning, with at least 2 years applying ML in quantitative finance/investments/trading
  • In depth knowledge of modern ML methods and architectures.
  • Strong statistical foundation—comfortable with hypothesis testing, bootstrapping, time-series quirks, and related methods.
  • Experience building ML systems that operate in real-time or near-real-time environments.
  • Strong command of alpha evaluation (IC, rank correlations, stability, decay).
  • Proficiency in Python and the scientific/ML ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow).
  • Understanding of market microstructure, order flow, order-book dynamics, and factor behavior is a major plus
  • Experience guiding technical teams and shaping modeling direction.
