Your new companyOver the past few years, our client has evolved into the European hub of a fast-growing, innovation-led semiconductor group. What truly defines them isn’t just their technology, but the diverse, talented community behind it, people who share a clear sense of purpose and work together with genuine collaboration and pride. Their teams operate in a modern, fast-paced environment, driving advancements in next-generation touch technologies and exploring what’s possible across display and video systems, high-speed AI data processing and wireless connectivity. There’s a strong ambition running through the business: to build a world-class enterprise powered by deep technical expertise and continuous innovation.

As part of their expansion, they are now investing further to look for a Digital Lead. This creates an exciting opportunity for a skilled and ambitious individual to join a growing organisation where your work directly shapes new products, influences future technology, and contributes to a company pushing the boundaries of semiconductor development.

Your new roleMy client is seeking a Digital Lead who will take full ownership of the IC digital roadmap across two expanding markets, touch sensing and automotive MCUs. The role is pivotal in defining and delivering the digital architecture that sits at the core of these next-generation products. You’ll begin by working closely with stakeholders to establish clear product definitions and technical objectives, before driving the digital design activities from early architectural modelling through to verification and final validation. What sets this role apart is the breadth of technical responsibility. You will oversee the creation of advanced capacitive touch controller ICs, incorporating brand-new sensing architectures, while simultaneously contributing to the design of safety-critical automotive MCUs. Ensuring consistency, quality and performance across both lines will require strong technical judgement, a structured engineering mindset and the confidence to lead design reviews and resolve complex technical challenges.Equally important is the leadership element. You’ll manage a dedicated digital team, guiding resource allocation, monitoring progress, and ensuring technical direction remains aligned with project and organisational goals. Working with global partners and internal IP suppliers, you will represent the digital team’s needs in key decisions, whether that’s IP selection, EDA tool adoption or design-flow optimisation. It’s an ideal position for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of technology, people and strategy. What you’ll need to succeedMy client is looking for a candidate who brings a strong blend of technical rigour and leadership confidence. This role requires someone who has already proven they can manage teams and navigate multiple concurrent projects without losing sight of delivery timelines. You’ll need a solid foundation in digital IP development and integration, along with a methodical approach to problem-solving that allows you to explore complex design spaces while maintaining a high level of innovation.Because the work spans everything from architecture to physical implementation, they’re looking for someone who understands the full digital IC lifecycle how to translate a specification into a robust design and guide that all the way through verification, validation and silicon sign-off. Experience in low power design techniques, area optimisation and the selection and evaluation of EDA toolchains will be particularly valuable. A strong understanding of IP supply chains, including maturity models and third party IP quality assessment, will help you thrive in this environment, as will established skills in DfT, DfM, silicon debug and failure-analysis methodologies.Candidates should hold a BEng or MEng in Engineering, Electronics or a related field, ideally at a 2:1 or equivalent. Head of Engineering - SaaS
Spectrum IT Recruitment
Fareham
Fully remote
Leader
£120,000 - £130,000
TECH-AGNOSTIC ROLE

An exciting new opportunity with a high-growth B2B SaaS business scaling a complex, customer-facing platform used at significant volume. With continued investment in engineering, tooling, and leadership, they’re looking for a talented Head of Engineering to help evolve and scale their software engineering function.

This role suits someone who came up through software engineering, understands modern development at depth, and now leads through strong principles, clear thinking, and trust rather than command-and-control.

The Role

You’ll own the end-to-end software development operation, leading a small group of Software Development Managers (4-5) who manage 40-50 engineers across software development. Engineering & leadership is UK-based.

This isn’t a role for someone stepping away from engineering, it’s for someone who still cares deeply about how software is built, even at senior leadership level.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Owning delivery, quality, and scalability across the development function.
  • Embedding modern DevOps practices as part of development - CI/CD, automation, small batch delivery, and fast feedback.
  • Driving continuous improvement using metrics and meaningful engineering KPIs.
  • Improving developer productivity through better tooling, process, and engineering discipline.
  • Leading and developing managers, creating consistency while allowing teams autonomy.
  • Partnering closely with the CTO on technology strategy, platform evolution, and future capability.
  • Balancing delivery pressure with sustainable, high-quality engineering.

About You

  • 5+ years in a senior engineering leadership role (Director, Head of Engineering, VP, or Senior Engineering Manager).
  • Strong technical background, having progressed from hands-on software engineering.
  • Proven experience managing managers and scaling engineering teams 30+.
  • Comfortable leading distributed and offshore teams.
  • Deep understanding of modern & mature software development and DevOps practices.
  • Analytical, pragmatic, and outcome-focused; with the credibility to engage at both strategic and technical levels.

Why This Role

  • Senior leadership position with genuine influence and ownership.
  • A company that invests in technology, tools, and training.
  • Modern tech stack, robust engineering processes, and clear growth ambitions.
  • Remote-first culture with purposeful collaboration.
  • Opportunity to shape engineering culture at scale, not just maintain it.

If you’re managing managers, scaling teams, and want to do it in an environment that values engineering quality and long-term thinking, I’d be keen to talk.
