The Role - Tooling Design Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer with a focus on tooling to join a global engineering business at the forefront of technological advancement on a long term contract.
As a Tooling Design Engineer, you’ll be tasked with developing industrial tools, jigs, fixtures, prototype model production and machine attachments used in both main production and prototype development phases.
The work you do will be utilised across the full product lifecycle therefore supporting both engineering and production functions.
Duties - Tooling Design Engineer
Provision of tooling to reduce manufacturing costs and improve yield at all stages.
Develop tooling to support CNC Machining, Composite layup and assembly.
Designing any new tooling & fixturing requirements.
Experienced in the creation of Technical Requirement Specifications.
Creation of detailed process instructions.
Creation of Manufacturing BOM’s.
Assist with the Technical requirements of production activity.
Supporting full rate production of a range of products
Liaise closely with cross functional engineering areas.
Support with the business process reviews and generation of documentation.
Background - Tooling Design Engineer
A background in tooling design
Broad manufacturing knowledge; industry experience with CNC machining, composites, fabrication, mechanical assembly, additive manufacturing.
Ability to design new tooling (Concept to release)
Creo Design Experience (Preferable)
Experience of document release and change.
Excellent knowledge of GD&T
Awareness of DFM/A and PFMEA

Role Description
Acting as the site’s Electrical Duty Holder, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
Leading troubleshooting and continuous improvement of electrical and control systems.
Overseeing PLC, HMI, AC drive and servo control systems, supporting fault-finding and improvements.
Providing technical guidance and mentoring engineers in electrical fault-finding and controls.
Managing technical documentation and supporting the standardisation of control components across the site.Skills and Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship with HNC or equivalent.
Strong electrical knowledge, ideally with 18th Edition certification.
Experience within a manufacturing environment.
PLC programming and interrogation experience would be advantageous, but you do not need to be a PLC expert. Training can be provided where required.

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will initially report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, with daily leadership and support provided by the Team Leader. Job Responsibilities
Local project technical lead for the implementation of production planning, from original concept through to production.
Design high capability manufacturing processes using GKNs Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite, including the APQP Core Tools.
Develop, document and optimise new and existing manufacturing processes such as creation/amendment SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and Process Specifications
Create and update engineering documentation to maintain configuration control and help manage point of introduction activities, first article inspection and customer approval
Lead structured improvement activities to reduce process driven scrap and rework
Provide MRB (Material Review Board) support to existing programmes to ensure any process deviation or product faults are reviewed and answered
Make presentations at senior level internally and externally demonstrating ability to clearly communicate to the audience
Identify, anticipate and offer solutions to technical problems
Establish & improve production process controls
Comply with company Environmental, Health, Safety and Energy procedures.
