Job Purpose / Overview
The Field Engineer - Electrical will take responsibility for activities in the field relating to Construction Surveillance.
They will form part of a team with the primary role to deliver the NEC Supervisor duties described in the NEC contract and ensure that business Quality needs, targets and expectations are realised.

The Field Engineer is responsible for the surveillance of quality compliance within the designated section of the Works in accordance with surveillance strategy requirements.

Job Description:
We are seeking a Primary Electrical Design Engineer specialising in HV/EHV substation and BESS electrical layout design to support grid-connected energy infrastructure projects across 11kV400kV systems. The role involves leading the primary electrical design and site layout development for substations, including AIS/GIS substations, switch rooms, control rooms, cable routing, and site earthing systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing electrical plant layouts, ducting and cable routing drawings, equipment support structures, and grid connection designs integrating BESS containers, inverters, PCS units, transformers, and auxiliary systems. The role also includes contributing to system studies, equipment specifications, and technical reviews with manufacturers for key HV plant such as circuit breakers, transformers, CTs, VTs, and disconnectors.
You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams, construction teams, and commissioning engineers to deliver turnkey energy infrastructure projects, ensuring designs comply with relevant grid standards and HV/EHV installation requirements. The position also involves supporting design standardisation initiatives and mentoring junior engineers.
