Commissioning Engineer / Installation Engineer / Service Supervisor required to join a leading electrical engineering supplier.

The successful Commissioning Engineer / Installation Engineer / Service Supervisor shall carry out full electrical installations and commissioning on a wide variety of critical power equipment such as generators, control systems, fuel tanks and associated electrical/mechanical critical power equipment.

Commissioning Engineer / Installation Engineer / Service Supervisor will ideally have experience of electrical control panels and an electrical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or similar, BS7671 18th Edition, ECS gold card) would be beneficial.

The Commissioning Engineer / Installation Engineer / Service Supervisor Role

  • Completing installation and project work on critical power equipment at our customer sites.
  • Carry out full electrical installations and commissioning on a wide variety of critical power equipment such as generators, control systems, fuel tanks and associated electrical/mechanical critical power equipment.
  • Carry out load bank testing, site surveys, inspections, fault finding, repairs, training and testing of critical power equipment and electrical installations.
  • Supervise electrical installation teams and electrical installs. (Site supervisor / AP / AE)
  • Complete installation, commissioning, SAT, FAT and customer training of installations, control systems and machinery.
  • Install and configure connectivity options via telemetry, BMS and associated devices.
  • Site surveys in order for the sales team to accurately quote and for the projects department to facilitate installation planning and implementation.
  • Liaise with various engineering departments.

The Commissioning Engineer / Installation Engineer / Service Supervisor Requirements:

  • Experience of electrical installation, fault diagnostics and maintenance of generators, control systems, fuel tanks and associated electrical/mechanical critical power equipment is advantageous.
  • Electrical engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or similar, BS7671 18th Edition, Inspection and test, ECS gold card) would be beneficial.
  • Experience as an Installation Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Service Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Generator Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Service Supervisor or Marine Engineer.
  • Hands-on electrical and/or mechanical engineering. Full product training provided.

ROLE OVERVIEW for aGate Automation/Service Engineer:

Gate Control Ltd is seeking an experienced Gate Automation Engineer/Service Engineer to join its service and maintenance division. This role is aligned with Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) guidance, including DHF Code of Practice for Powered Gates and Traffic Barriers, and current UK safety legislation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, fault diagnosis, repair, and safety compliance of automated gate systems, barriers, bollards, and associated equipment. Knowledge of roller shutters would be advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESfor aGate Automation/Service Engineer:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive service works in accordance with DHF guidance, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures.
  • Service, maintain and fault find on systems including automated gates, automatic barriers, rising and fixed bollards.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults safely and efficiently.
  • Work on systems including those manufactured by DEA, BFT, FAAC, NICE, BENINCA, and SEA.
  • Inspect, test, and verify safety devices.
  • Carry out force testing, risk assessments, and safety evaluations in line with DHF guidance and relevant British and European Standards.
  • Identify non-compliant or unsafe systems and report findings in accordance with company and DHF procedures.
  • Complete service reports, force test records, risk assessments, and job documentation accurately.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site managers, and colleagues.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including safe systems of work.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota when required.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS REQUIRED

  • ECS or CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK
  • Proven experience as a gate automation/service engineer
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Good understanding of gate safety principles, force limitation, and safe operation
  • Background knowledge of roller shutters or industrial doors (preferred)

The Role
