We’re looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer / Commissioning Technician to support HV substation and industrial power projects for a leading contractor. This is a contract role via our agency, working on the testing, commissioning and handover of high-voltage electrical systems.

Role Overview

You will carry out the planning, testing and commissioning of HV/LV equipment on substations and associated infrastructure. You’ll verify installation quality, complete functional testing, support energisation, and deliver all documentation to client standards.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Testing

  • Perform pre-energisation checks and verify installation quality.
  • Test primary plant (transformers, switchgear, CT/VTs, breakers, cabling, earthing).
  • Conduct secondary injection, protection testing, logic checks, SCADA/RTU/PLC I/O testing.
  • Test UPS, battery systems, LVAC/DC systems and auxiliary equipment.
  • Witness FAT/SAT and close out snags and punch lists.

Planning & Documentation

  • Prepare commissioning plans, ITPs, RAMS and test sheets.
  • Review drawings (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams) to define test scopes.

Energisation Support

  • Carry out cold & hot commissioning.

Coordination

Overview

An experienced Charging Features Verification Engineer is required to support delivery within a high-performance Charging Systems Verification and Validation function. This contract role is based in Gaydon and sits within a Charging Systems Delivery Group responsible for the validation of next-generation EV charging technologies.

The successful candidate will act as the primary verification point of contact for charging features, working closely with Charging Product Squads, Propulsion Product Groups, Body and Digital Platform teams, and Central Systems Integration. This is a hands-on vehicle-level validation role within a fast-paced electrification programme.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Execute validation and verification activities across EV Charging Systems including DC-DC converters, On-Board Chargers, AC and DC charging architectures, and BMS integration.
  2. Develop, maintain, and execute structured test plans, test cases, and automated or manual test scripts aligned to system requirements.
  3. Conduct vehicle-level software release testing across multiple programmes and build phases.
  4. Perform functional, performance, robustness, and integration testing using real EVSE units, charging emulators, power analysers, and diagnostic tools.
  5. Capture and analyse logs, identify root causes of charging faults, communication failures, or interoperability issues.
  6. Verify issue resolution across vehicle, labcar, and Vehicle-in-Loop environments, including SIMS, AIMS, and defect tracking systems.
  7. Support cross-functional defect resolution alongside software, hardware, diagnostics, and integration teams.
  8. Ensure system compliance with ISO 15118, IEC 61851, DIN 70121, ISO 26262 and associated charging standards.

Technical Capability

  • Hands-on experience with EV charging systems, high-voltage electrical systems, or power electronics, including 400V and 800V architectures.
  • Strong Validation and Verification background within automotive or adjacent regulated industries.

Duties

Specific duties will include 1st line fault finding then repairing a wide variety of mechanical equipment including steam boilers, refrigeration plant, air handling units, effluent plant along with street lighting and the electrical infrastructure. Other general electrical works will include periodic inspection and compliance checks in line with the company’s maintenance schedule along with small electrical installations, socket moves, light bulb changes and lighting unit replacement.

About You

Duties

Specific duties will include 1st line fault finding then repairing a wide variety of mechanical equipment including steam boilers, refrigeration plant, air handling units, effluent plant along with street lighting and the electrical infrastructure. Other general electrical works will include periodic inspection and compliance checks in line with the company’s maintenance schedule along with small electrical installations, socket moves, light bulb changes and lighting unit replacement.

About You
Based ideally in Northamptonshire/Warwickshire/Buckinghamshire you will need to live within a commutable distance of NN12 8EQ.
Demonstrable experience within an industrial electrical maintenance environment, ideally within the food and beverage industry with a strong electrical engineering background is essential.
