Senior Test Development Engineer

Location: Glenrothes or Livingston

About the role:
Responsible for the design, manufacture, verification and validation, along with through life technical support of board level, sub-system and system level test equipment.

Skills:
• Test software design
• Excellent knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design
• Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation
• Proven knowledge in handover and management of designs in production
• Excellent hardware troubleshooting skills
• Able to support/debug system integration
• Must be eligible for MOD Security Clearance to a minimum of SC level

Highly Desirable:
• Significant test development in a safety critical industry
• Use of Mentor Graphics schematic entry and PCB layout tools
• Understanding of common test architectures PXI/d LXI
• Measurement Uncertainty and its application in test equipment design and validation
• Software Certification or detailed knowledge of: NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#
• Design of mix signal circuits
• High speed serial networks
• An appreciation of RF electronics
• Knowledge of power supply design

Responsibilities
• Design of functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblys and systems.
• To take responsibility for the design and overall quality of the test equipment and provide leadership and guidance for junior engineers.
• Documentation of design specifications and implementation details. Take part in design reviews. Upholding of design standards and methodologies.
• Realisation of complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable test hardware solutions.
• Responsibility for the complete implementation of detailed technical items and an understanding/appreciation of system level items.
• Collaboration with other team members (including both hardware and software engineers) to agree system designs, interfaces and protocols etc.
• Development of appropriate test hardware, test software and procedures, both informal and formal, to prove the correct operation of hardware.
• Provide support to manufacturing answering product queries & resolving technical issues.
• Provide support for the test hardware and manage obsolescence throughout its lifecycle.
• Monitoring and reporting of progress of test development to immediate supervisor and development team.
• Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practices.
• Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct.
• Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management
• Application of Design Review Processes
• Accountable for engineering specific risks and opportunities.
• Key contributor at Gate/Design reviews
• Provides guidance of Test Development processes and tools.
• Contribute to section/business area resource planning with a working understanding of Microsoft Project tools.
• Test Engineering Lead for a small/medium scale test engineering program
• Ability to identify and engage the appropriate SMEs to support the Test Development Engineering activities.
• Contributor/Approver for standard/tailored test development process including Design Review gates and content
• Key interface to external customers/suppliers.

AI Prompt Engineer - 12 Month Contract - Outside IR35

Role Description:

Harvey Nash’s Pub Sec client are seeking an AI Prompt Engineer to design, develop, and optimise prompt-based solutions for AI systems.

This role will design and optimise AI prompts for extracting data from forms, fine-tune models for accuracy, automate end-to-end workflows, and manage production deployments. The ideal candidate will ensure robust, scalable, and secure AI solutions that streamline document processing

The initial focus of the role will look at building on exiting solution to extract structured data from various forms and documents. This role combines expertise in natural language processing (NLP), prompt engineering, and workflow automation to enable accurate and efficient data processing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prompt Design & Optimisation:

• Develop and refine AI prompts to accurately extract data fields from structured and semi-structured forms.

• Test and iterate prompts for different document types and languages to maximize accuracy and reliability.

• Ensure prompt development is reusable and scalable across different use case scenarios

• Work closely with developers, data scientists, and business analysts to align solutions with business needs.

• Fine-tune AI models to improve performance across diverse document types and languages.

• Workflow Automation

• Develop automated pipelines for document ingestion, data extraction, and validation.

• Integrate AI solutions with OCR tools and enterprise systems for seamless processing.

• Deployment & Support

• Manage deployment of AI solutions into production environments.

• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide ongoing support.

• AI Model Integration*:

• Collaborate with data scientists and developers to integrate prompt-based solutions into existing AI/ML pipelines.

• Ensure compatibility with OCR tools and document processing systems.

• Data Quality & Validation:

• Implement validation logic to ensure extracted data meets quality standards.

• Work with QA teams to identify and resolve extraction errors.

• Research & Innovation:

• Stay updated on advancements in prompt engineering, LLMs, and document AI technologies.

• Experiment with new techniques for improving extraction performance and reducing manual intervention.

• Collaboration & Documentation:

• Partner with business analysts to understand form structures and data requirements.

• Document prompt strategies, workflows, and best practices for internal knowledge sharing.

• Document guidance to support deployment approach and ongoing support and maintenance activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering principles.
• Experience with document AI, OCR technologies, and data extraction workflows.
• Proficiency in Python or similar languages for automation and integration tasks.
• Familiarity with APIs and cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, AWS, Google AI).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Background in NLP, machine learning, or data science.
• Experience with form processing systems in finance, healthcare, or enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations and secure handling of sensitive information.
• Demonstrated success in delivery across both distributed and hybrid on-premises and cloud technology estates.
• Experience in managing both agile and waterfall projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, influencing and communication skills.
• Ability to apply a broad understanding of IT infrastructure and interdependencies to create effective, risk-minimising migration plans.

The successful Gas Service & Repair Engineer will receive 6-8 jobs a day all based in your chosen working location. in order to take on this position as a service and repair engineer, the successful gas engineer must meet the following criteria:
