You’ll be someone who can work pro-actively, managing your own tasks, but you’ll also be confident collaborating with others, communicating regularly with senior managers, Directors, and BDO’s Partners to enable us to serve our clients effectively.  You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to our clients.

Role Overview

This role will provide Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of corporate and owner managed clients. The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of clients. You will also provide assistance to Director/Partners in both client work and in the management of the group and on occasions the practice. Will be involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis. A key part of the role requires the individual to actively seek, and keep the Partner informed about, any new business opportunities arising on existing and new clients.

Responsibilities

To act as a key point of contact within the firm for the client, together with the Senior Manager/Partner. This will involve responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided, and maintaining regular contact with clients

• There will be an expectation that you will take full responsibility for project delivery on their portfolio
• Manage a portfolio of clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firms criteria
• Review of work prepared by more junior members of staff
• Liaise with HMRC
• To ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/Partner informed of overruns and plan staff assignments in order to give an appropriate spread of experience
• Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to including second partner review
• Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner/ Senior Manager/Manager, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.

Requirements

• Educated to degree level, and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
• Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
• Support, train, mentor and advise others in own area.
• Challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
• Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions and those of others.
• Lead projects of limited scale or complexity

You will be a key member of the Global Employer Services group, this role will provide reward and share schemes services for a wide range of clients. You will be responsible for assisting Directors & Partners in providing Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients.

The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of existing clients and assist with the development of targets in order to ensure the continued growth of the business. You will also provide assistance to senior members of staff in both client work and in the management of the group, as appropriate.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Ability to advise on the tax treatment of share options and other forms of employee share ownership
• An in depth knowledge of EMI, ESS and knowledge of reward tax and related areas such as employment, NIC and capital gains tax etc
• Expertise on split interest, freezer and nil paid arrangements
• Experience in the preparation of share valuations and liaison with HMRC
• Staff management and mentoring experience
• Awareness of accounting, employment law and company law implications of share incentives
• Experience of dealing direct with clients including agreement of fees
• Educated to degree level (LLB preferred), and/or CTA and/or ATT/ACA qualified or equivalent

You’ll help deliver accurate and transparent reporting to all relevant stakeholders as you provide long term value. You’ll be someone :

• With the ability to identify risk matters and raises with a manager and/or partner, while exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
• Who can identify and understand needs of the Audited Entity, suggest potential solutions on technical matters and communicate and agree the needs and potential solutions with Managers or Partner.
• Who can build and maintain strong relationships with new and established Audited Entities, identifying opportunities and be a point of contact throughout the year.
• With experience of conducting rigorous project and financial management on all projects, completing projects within agreed timescales and raising issues in a timely manner.
• Qualified ACA/ACCA/ICAS or overseas equivalent.
• Working knowledge of UK and International GAAS, IFRS, UK GAAP and Financial Reporting requirements.
• Working knowledge of financial products, firm services, issues regarding advice, and regulation and compliance, including anti-money laundering.
• Demonstrable knowledge of current economic and market trends.
• Experience supervising and coaching junior members of the team.
• Experience of managing projects.
