Working across a range of diverse, complex, and secure systems, as an Infrastructure Engineer you will be technically capable and versatile. You will be a senior technical leader able to work alone or as part of a team (depending on the size and complexity of the work) to deliver business value in a demanding and involved environment. You will be working as part of the Normal Change programme, supporting the development and sustainment of a government portfolio of systems and services.

Based primarily at our customer’s site near Huntingdon Cambridgeshire, you will be leading or supporting on infrastructure and application changes in an Agile environment.
You will have a broad range of knowledge and experience in the deployment and configuration of services based upon Microsoft and VMware products, having deployed virtual infrastructure within vSphere, and within containers such as Tanzu Kubernetes, along with an extensive understanding and experience of associated Windows-based technologies. A working knowledge and understanding of Linux, as well as other common back-end technologies such as SQL Server, networking (CISCO, FORTINET), and storage (NetApp, Dell), with the flexibility and aptitude to learn other additional complementary technologies as required, is also desirable.
Occasional travel to other Leidos and customer sites may be required. Keeping an eye on the technology landscape is essential, too – identification of new and relevant technologies to solve problems and make improvements is part of the job. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical issues and outcomes to a broad audience.
Extensive experience of producing technical documentation to a high standard.
Experience of working in security-cleared environments/working in Defence.
Excellent knowledge of virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere.
Excellent knowledge of VMware vSAN, NSX-T and VCF.
Excellent knowledge of locking down environments.
Excellent knowledge of Windows Server environments, from design to implementation and support, including:

Lead Combat Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and security-cleared Maritime Combat Systems Engineer (MCSE) to lead the design and implementation of a Combat System for the Leidos Sea Dagger, a brand new naval combat platform.
The candidate will have extensive experience working in the defence industry, with specific expertise in maritime combat, C2 and Combat Management systems, data networks and architectures, mission systems, and C4ISR integration as well as understanding of overall platform design and architecture.
This role will include selecting, implementing, integrating and setting to work various combat system capabilities drawn from Industry partners and internally Leidos generated products.
A key element of this role will be integration of Agentic AI systems into the combat system with a strong focus on autonomous systems. Familiarity with StrikeNet and other emergent naval systems would be advantageous.
The MCSE will report directly to the Maritime Chief Engineer and will be responsible for the delivery of the Combat Systems, supporting the various trials that will allow the acceptance of the new platform into service with the UK Royal Navy.

The role
You’ll collaborate with the product manager and team to lead the delivery of services and products that deliver our clients’ strategic outcomes. You’ll facilitate people’s work in roles spanning design, development, and research, playing a key leadership role in multidisciplinary agile teams.
You’ll lead the team in agreeing delivery milestones to deliver on behalf of our clients. You’ll create a safe working environment so our agile teams deliver with autonomy in often complex client stakeholder groups and governance structures.
