Contract - £700 per day (inside)LondonOur client, a wireless research organisation, is growing its London-based 6G research team, focused on building the next generation of intelligent, AI-driven network systems. The group operates at the frontier of agentic AI, distributed systems, and future mobile network architectures, with direct influence on global standards. This role is suited to an engineer who enjoys building tools and intelligent agents, not just theorising about them. The work centres on designing, implementing, and validating agentic AI components that operate within and across 6G network layers, with outputs targeting pre-standardisation and formal standards bodies. The RoleAs an Agentic AI Engineer, you will design and build AI agents, control loops, and tooling that explore how autonomous, learning-driven behaviour can be embedded into future mobile networks. The focus is on hands-on engineering within a research environment: turning concepts into working systems, testing them in lab-based deployments, and feeding the results into standards-relevant technical contributions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement agentic AI systems that interact with and control aspects of 6G network behaviourBuild tools, frameworks, and proof-of-concept platforms to explore AI-driven decision-making in mobile networksPrototype and validate intelligent protocols and control mechanisms using Python-based implementationsAnalyse emerging trends in agentic AI, autonomous systems, and intelligent networkingContribute to pre-standardisation and standardisation activities (ETSI, IETF, 3GPP) through technical papers and proposalsCollaborate with systems, protocol, and research engineers to translate ideas into testable implementationsRequired BackgroundPhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related fieldor Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant engineering or R&D experienceStrong experience building software prototypes, tools, or frameworks (Python 3)Background in telecommunications, distributed systems, or networked platformsProven ability to move from concept to working implementationExcellent communication skills and comfort explaining complex technical ideas clearlyStrongly Preferred ExperienceHands-on experience with AI agents, agentic workflows, or autonomous systemsExperience with AI model training, inference, or decision-making pipelinesInterest in or exposure to modern protocol stacks (e.g. HTTP, QUIC, A2A, MCP)Understanding of systems-level trade-offs in large-scale, distributed environmentsInterest in influencing how research transitions into real-world standardsEnvironmentDeep-tech R&D setting with long-horizon research goalsEngineering-led approach to applied research and experimentationDirect exposure to standards-driven technology developmentLondon-based team with flexible hybrid workingAgentic AI Engineer - 6G Networks & Intelligent ProtocolsRSG Plc is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.TPBN1_UKTJ
