About the Role
Interested in growing your engineering experience in the nuclear industry?
If you’re excited by the idea of supporting real action to help Britain achieve net zero, our Nuclear Safety Engineer role could be the opportunity you’re looking for.
The Nuclear Safety Group plays a vital role in maintaining oversight of nuclear safety at the station. The team leads the implementation of the Station Safety Case, demonstrates compliance, and carries out key plant performance activities, including specifying reactor refuelling, monitoring safety margins and providing reactor physics advice to our Operators.
In this role, you’ll focus on the development, implementation and ongoing compliance of the Station Safety Case. Working closely with colleagues in the Design Authority, Engineering and Operations teams, you’ll help ensure the safe operation of the reactors and that our safety documentation remains robust, effective and fully compliant.
You’ll report to the Nuclear Safety Group Head and take on responsibilities within the Group’s Safety Case technical area. Your work will include authoring and verifying updates to the Station Safety Case, assessing the nuclear safety implications of plant modifications, managing the Station Operating Rules and ensuring compliance with the Nuclear Site Licence. You’ll be able to work cooperatively as part of a team while taking responsibility for your own work and driving tasks through to completion. You’ll be comfortable interpreting technical information, proposing solutions and collaborating across functions to deliver them. Strong planning and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to balance immediate priorities with longer‑term objectives and identify opportunities for improvement.
As part of your encouraged personal development, training is delivered through our accredited initial programme, using a mix of on‑site and off‑site courses, alongside structured mentoring.
Experience that would be beneficial, but not essential, includes strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities, the ability to navigate differing viewpoints and reach appropriate resolutions, and a background in nuclear power plant operations or nuclear technology/engineering.
Pay, Benefits and Culture
We’re offering a salary of £45,641 to £95,993 however, the starting salary will be within the range of £45,641 - £68,958, allowing room for career advancement. Be the technical backbone behind infrastructure quality and successful adoptions across multiple live housing developments.
An established residential developer is seeking a technically strong, site-focused engineer to take ownership of infrastructure inspection, quality assurance and the structured close-out of developments through to adoption.

You’ll also lead the technical coordination of adoptions and handovers — from as-built records and testing through to vesting — acting as a key liaison between site teams, contractors and adopting authorities. Your work will directly enable smooth, compliant site closure and protect programme and commercial performance.
Functionally, this position allows senior engineering staff to focus on design development, approvals and value engineering, while you ensure delivery quality and orderly completion on the ground.
