The Role

  • Provide engineering support across automated Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) including cranes, conveyors, elevators, and sorters.
  • Maximise equipment availability by attending and rectifying breakdowns safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out planned, routine, and reactive maintenance in line with site schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and PLC-related faults.
  • Work with a range of manufacturers’ systems (PLC/WMS based).
  • Accurately record all maintenance activities and parts usage via CMMS.
  • Liaise with contractors and external suppliers to resolve complex issues.
  • Support operations teams to ensure smooth and continuous production.
  • Maintain safe, tidy workshops and adhere to hygiene standards.
  • Recommend improvements to increase reliability and reduce downtime.

The Person

  • Apprentice-trained in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • ONC/HNC (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experienced in both mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems (preferably Siemens).
  • Experience within an automated warehouse or highly mechanised DC environment.
  • Physically fit, comfortable working at heights up to 25m.
  • IT literate, with MS Office skills.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Awareness of safe working practices and compliance standards.
