Heat Pump Service & Repair Engineer – Overview
We are currently working with a renewable energy company based in Portsmouth area who are looking for a Heat Pump Engineer to join the team, focusing solely on service and breakdown works. They have been operating since 2007 and have grown to become one of the largest installers of Heat Pumps and Solar in the South East of England. They began as a traditional plumbing and heating company, installing and maintaining boilers and heating systems in domestic properties.
In the last 10 years, they have transitioned very successfully into renewable energy as well, becoming one of the largest installers of Heat Pumps and Solar PV in the South. They complete work for private domestic customers but a lot of their work is also completed under the government grant schemes such as HUG, RHI, Warm Homes Scheme etc. Of all the Heat Pumps that have been installed in England under these schemes, they have installed 25% of them, a big number for a medium sized company so punching well above their weight!
They currently turnover £10million and have circa 30 members of Staff. They also have a dedicated sub contractor network of circa 5-10 teams which they often utilise for the Heat Pump installations. Their goal is to double their turnover to £20million across the next 5 years, naturally this will come with a big increase in opportunities for you to progress and further your career.
This role is solely focused on service and maintenance works. The sub contract teams install their heat pumps, but they take care of all the aftercare in house. You would attending annual service visits, system breakdowns and also offer technical support to customers. The company can also train you in other areas, such as if you want to gain your gas tickets, they will sponsor you through.
This is a mobile role so a full UK licence is required. They mostly cover works throughout Hampshire with a focus on Portsmouth, Havant, Fareham, Southampton areas etc but do also travel further north towards Alton etc. They also go into Surrey, Berkshire and Dorset on occasion. You will be home based and will receive all your jobs through PDA.

Role Description
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across all electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
Diagnose and repair industrial electrical equipment, from single/three‑phase supplies to motors, starters, panels etc
Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled machinery using HMI/SCADA insights to keep processes running smoothly.
Calibrate, verify and maintain key instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow, weighers and analytical devices.
Carry out loop checks, PID tuning and commissioning support across 4-20mA, 0-10V and digital signal systems.
Record all PPM and maintenance activity accurately through the site CMMS while working safely under permits and LOTOTO.
