Position Overview An exceptional role awaits a talented Automation Software Engineer, focusing on the design and commissioning of hard-wired and PLC/computer-based control systems for a diverse range of automation equipment and systems. Essential Functions - Design & Commissioning: Develop hard-wired and PLC/computer-based control systems for various automation systems. - Safety & Compliance: Ensure control systems meet all relevant regulations and safety standards. - Project Management: Design systems that adhere to project timelines and budgets. - Support: Provide technical support and training to customers and sales teams. - Communication: Maintain professional interactions with engineers and managers at all levels. Design Responsibilities - Create new control circuits and modify existing designs using common design software packages. - Ensure compliance with customer specifications and ISO9001/company procedures. - Supervise panel building and site modifications, applicable to both full-time and contract panel builders. Software Design & Commissioning - Develop and commission software for PLCs and HMIs, with a focus on SIEMENS, MITSUBISHI, and ALLEN BRADLEY systems. - Design PLC programs for both large and small systems, and manage on-site commissioning. - Construct operating manuals and maintain backup software in accordance with ISO9001/company procedures. - Provide comprehensive training to customers at both engineer and operator levels. Minimum Qualifications - Inventive self-starter with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in automation software. - Proficient in PLC, HMI, and auto ID equipment, with a good understanding of networking technologies and motor control. - Qualified to a minimum HNC/HND level or higher in electrical, electronic, and control engineering. - High level of computer literacy and familiarity with a wide range of computer packages. - Commercial awareness and an understanding of the impact of their work on the organisation’s deliverables. Skills, Experience, and Education - Effective communication and liaison with sales and engineering teams. - Proficiency in creating technical documentation and reports. - Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design, reliability, and maintenance requirements. - Innovative mindset with the ability to understand detailed customer technical specifications.
