We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the preconstruction and design team for a major energy infrastructure project based in Birmingham. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant scheme during its early stages, helping shape the technical delivery strategy before construction begins.
Working alongside design consultants, project managers and construction teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the project is buildable, efficient and technically robust from the outset.
Key Responsibilities

Support the preconstruction and design development of a large-scale energy project.

Review engineering drawings, specifications and design documentation for constructability and practicality.

Provide technical input into method statements, construction sequencing and temporary works requirements.

Collaborate with design teams to identify risks, clashes and value engineering opportunities.

About You

Experience working as a Site Engineer, Section Engineer or similar role within infrastructure, energy, utilities or major construction projects.

Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering principles and site operations.

Experience reviewing or coordinating design information during preconstruction stages.

Ability to identify constructability issues and practical engineering solutions.
*
Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with design teams and project stakeholders.

Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

The Role
This is a hands-on engineering position that combines office-based project support with international travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and technical service.
Working as part of the Electrical department, you’ll be involved in a range of technical activities - PLC and HMI programming to supporting bespoke electrical equipment design and providing on-site customer support.
Following a period of training, you’ll take on a dual role with both project-based responsibilities and international field service work.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing office-based technical support to global customers
Actively contributing to R&D projects in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
Travelling internationally for installation, commissioning, and service work
Programming and fault-finding with PLCs, HMI software, and SCADA systems

The right candidate will bring a combination of electrical engineering knowledge and practical hands-on experience, ideally within a manufacturing, installation, or maintenance environment.

Holds at least an ONC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or higher)
Has experience with PLCs, HMI software, and SCADA systems
Has knowledge of or exposure to AutoCAD
Understands Single and Three Phase Power Transformers (desirable)

Hands on experience with pre-planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance in fast paced industrial factory.

Mechanical engineering qualification.
