Your responsibilities

• Line management, coaching, career progression, planning and growth, for one or two engineering teams, ensuring that the team is staffed appropriately and protecting its health and having accountability for the successful delivery of the teams commitments
• Ensuring that excellent engineering and innovation are part of every delivery iteration and the teams roadmap and developing the engineering culture of their team and domain, in the context of the organizational engineering strategy (rapid hypothesis testing, learning from failure, automation, SecDevOps culture)
• Ensuring effective technical knowledge is shared within the team and in collaboration with other teams and Associate Engineering Managers
• Awareness of barriers to innovation, and planning for their removal (through training, removal of technical debt, or other means)
• Occasionally, being able to lend hands-on support to the team working on and using the following technologies: Salesforce (APEX classes, metadata API, etc.) and Salesforce CLI (SFDX), Visual Studio Code, Git, CI/CD, AWS

Overview of Role

The Engineer - Platform Engineering is responsible for developing pipelines and automation scripts to deliver IT infrastructure across both public and private cloud environments, incorporating security best practices throughout.

This role partners closely with infrastructure and application teams to identify automation opportunities, design reusable solutions, and support adoption across the wider IT function. The position also provides operational support for core cloud infrastructure technologies and acts as a third-line escalation point where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with infrastructure and application teams to identify automation opportunities and prioritise initiatives.
• Provide effort and impact assessments to support automation roadmaps.
• Design and develop standardised CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment.
• Act as a subject matter expert in infrastructure automation, mentoring colleagues and promoting best practice.
• Integrate tooling (eg, ServiceNow) for automated provisioning and service workflows.
• Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems.
• Maintain and optimise cloud solutions in line with security policies and best practices.
• Identify and remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues.
• Develop and document cloud standards, guardrails, and best practices.
• Ensure CMDB accuracy using automation wherever possible.
• Operationalise proof-of-concept solutions into production-ready platforms.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Application, and Security Architects during solution design.
• Engage with vendors to test and benchmark new technologies.
• Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery standards are Embedded in infrastructure design.
• Act as third-line escalation support for IT Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).

Senior Software Developer – SC Cleared - Crawley Overview of the role Our client is seeking a talented Software Developer to join their team based in Crawley. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Windows-based desktop applications using Visual Studio, Windows Forms, .NET, C, and C++. Key Responsibilities You will: • Design, implement, and test Windows desktop applications using Visual Studio, Windows Forms, .NET, C, and C++. • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing, and documentation. • Update system and design documentation as required. • Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software. • Ensure software consistency with project architecture and design standards. • Support debugging, code reviews, and issue resolution. • Actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and contribute to Sprint goals.
