The role
Working within the IT Team, this role is a key role to the company as the successful candidate will be responsible for completing an infrastructure transformation and the ongoing maintenance of the current IT estate.The role will be split between technical hands on work and managerial duties.This is a Windows centric, .NET environment fully deployed into Microsoft Azure. A deep technical understanding of Azure and Office 365 is a required.
You will need to provide colleagues with fast and efficient access to business applications, communication and collaboration tools, you will enable streamlined and innovative ways of working which supports the delivery of excellent levels of service.

Main Responsibilities
To provide the business with a highly available and resilient IT environment that meets performance expectations and to ensure appropriate controls, contingencies and DR solutions are in place
Formulate and drive IT modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives
Overall responsibility for the ISO 27001 Information Management Security System (ISMS) and ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System (BSMS)
Lead the design and delivery of future technical solutions, integrating strategic planning, design, and implementation to help the business and colleagues excel
Own the hands-on technical management of back office corporate IT infrastructure
Manage third parties to ensure services delivered is to ITIL standards and compliant to contracts including attending service reviews and monitoring KPIs
Ensure compliance with IT security policy standards, including encryption, secure disposal, build hardening, monitoring, patching and access controls
Lead security incident response and contribute to major incident management control
Ensure effective communications outside of the IT team
Production of an appropriate IT infrastructure strategy that connects the various sections of the business together and delivers stability in the companys IT infrastructure
Manage the IT infrastructure including communication
Collaborate with external vendors and service providers
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing technical infrastructure within a busy commercial environment including the following technologies:
Extensive experience architecting and managing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
A strong all-rounder with broad technical skills across multiple disciplines
Expertise in Microsoft Windows Architecture (Cloud, Server, and Client) and network and firewall technology
Good understanding of network technologies, with experience managing and operating FortiGate firewalls
Proven experience with Active Directory/Azure AD, including patch and group policy management
Windows Server, Windows 11, and Microsoft Application Suite
Experience with adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) utilising technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
Mobile Device Management with ManageEngine and Microsoft Intune

Responsibilities:
Design, build, test, and deploy cloud-based application solutions.
Deploy infrastructure and platform environments, and create proofs of architecture to validate security, performance, and scalability.
Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentoring to team members.

Required Skills & Experience:
Advanced proficiency in Google App Engine (GAE).
Advanced knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Platform Architecture.
Experience with Google Cloud Storage.
Intermediate proficiency in Terraform is recommended.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and mentor junior engineers.

The Role and the Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team at Blue Light Card. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure that supports our engineering teams. You’ll drive the adoption of DevOps practices, automate processes, and ensure operational excellence while contributing to our Engineering Community of Practice.
Working collaboratively across teams, you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling the efficient delivery of high-quality software solutions. You’ll also have the chance to innovate by building proof of concepts, troubleshooting complex issues, and influencing our technical direction. This role offers the opportunity to stay hands-on with cutting-edge tools and technologies while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Automate infrastructure by building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation and developing robust CI/CD pipelines
Ensure reliability by implementing monitoring, alerting and logging systems to proactively identify and resolve issues and enhance system reliability and uptime
Design scalable solutions by architecting and managing cloud-based infrastructure that meets reliability, security and scalability requirements
Collaborate across teams by partnering with stakeholders to align platform solutions with delivery needs and non-functional requirements
Support operational excellence by developing and participating in incident response efforts and participating in an on-call rota to ensure seamless system operations
Innovate and optimise by evaluating new technologies, improving system performance and implementing cost-efficient solutions to maximise value
Enhance security by implementing and monitoring best practices to ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards
Drive DevOps practices by advocating for continuous integration, continuous delivery and automation to streamline software delivery and system management
What You’ll Bring
Extensive experience as a platform engineer with AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and Lambda, demonstrating strong cloud infrastructure knowledge
Proven ability to utilise Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and configuration management tools like Ansible to manage and scale systems effectively
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring efficient workflows
Strong expertise in monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana and Datadog to maintain system reliability and performance
Familiarity with networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, DNS, and load balancing to support resilient infrastructure solutions
Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or Python for developing automation solutions and optimising processes
A dedication to fostering collaboration, driving continuous improvement, and promoting knowledge sharing across teams
Significant experience in agile, fast-paced environments, delivering impactful solutions across marketplace, affiliate, and eCommerce platforms, and consistently contributing to organisational growth and success
