Synchweb - our existing system for the visualisation of Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) and CryoEM data - is highly regarded by our scientific users around the world and is used in cutting-edge drug discovery and other research. Developed in-house and in concert with the ISPyB collaboration it is a critical component in the collection and interpretation of MX and CryoEM results at the facility. Synchweb is approaching the end of its life, and we are taking on the exciting challenge of building its replacement, Evo - built using modern web frameworks and taking cues from other modern applications in use at Diamond. Evo is part of a multi-million pound refresh of software applications and services required to support the new science anticipated from our £500m major facility upgrade. You will be working mostly on greenfield development with scientists who are leaders in their field. Some of the main duties include: Designing and developing new micro-services, features and websites to support future operational requirements. Providing input to Diamond scientific software architecture. Developing software integrations with third party systems used internally and globally across the international scientific community. About the role: To work on the development of user-facing Ground Control Station (GCS) software designed to enable operators to remotely control and monitor autonomous vehicles beyond visual line-of-sight.
