• System Integration:

• Customer Acceptance:

• Act as the primary point of contact for customers during the acceptance phase of flight simulation systems.
• Work directly with clients to ensure all system specifications and contractual requirements are met prior to acceptance
• Conduct customer-specific system tests and demonstrations to gain sign-off on system readiness.
• Provide expert guidance and support to customers during the acceptance testing process, addressing any concerns or adjustments needed.

• Issue Resolution:

• Respond to system issues identified during testing or customer feedback and collaborate with internal teams to resolve them promptly.
• Document, track, and report all issues, ensuring proper follow-up and resolution within established timelines.
• Lead troubleshooting and diagnostic efforts to address complex system malfunctions and operational anomalies.
• Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams for ongoing system maintenance and issue mitigation.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a global RF technology group as part of a specialist R&D team in the UK. This role focuses on designing and developing advanced mechanical solutions for RF, antenna, and electronic systems used across aerospace, defence, naval, space, and medical applications.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated and innovative engineer with extensive experience in mechanical design for demanding environments, who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across international sites.

Main Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in Lincoln, UK:

• Lead and contribute to the mechanical design of RF, antenna, and system products from concept through CAD, prototyping, fabrication, and final assembly.
• Collaborate closely with RF and electronics engineers to optimise designs for challenging applications and integrate systems effectively.
• Produce detailed CAD models, drawings, and analysis for strength, vibration, thermal behaviour, environmental performance, and compliance with military standards (e.G., MIL-STD-810).
• Support proposal generation with concept CAD, analysis, and presales input.
• Develop and optimise prototypes, models, fixtures, and specialised test equipment.
• Oversee environmental and mechanical testing, verification, and product qualification.
• Work directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure high-quality fabrication and testing.
• Industrialise designs and manage handover to production, including documentation, training, and assembly instructions.
• Produce technical reports, customer-facing documentation, and participate in design reviews with customers.

Requirements of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in Lincoln, UK:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Extensive experience in mechanical product design, ideally within defence, aerospace, naval, or space applications.
• Proven ability to deliver designs from concept to CAD, fabrication, and final assembly.
• Experience in design for environmental requirements including vibration, shock, humidity, and ingress protection.
• Strong expertise in environmental qualification, product testing, and verification.
• Mastery of CAD tools (e.G., Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor).
• Knowledge of composites, structures, aerospace, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
• Practical experience in prototyping, machining, and assembly.
• Experience working with suppliers, machinists, and toolmakers.
• Proven track record of working directly with customers in a consultative and collaborative manner.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, resilience, and attention to detail.

Desirable Experience:

• Shipborne, maritime, or space-related equipment.
• Thermal, ingress, corrosion, and EMC considerations in enclosure design.
• Mechanical design of healthcare-related products.
• Experience with FEA tools and MATLAB.

Senior Electronic Design & Firmware Engineer will be based at our Barnstaple site. This role allows for flexible working.
The salary for this role is up to £65k, depending on experience.

Whatyoullbedoing

• Design, implement, and verify FPGA firmware using VHDL/Verilog
• Develop and optimize embedded code for high-performance systems
• Own the full lifecycle: requirements, architecture, coding, simulation, and integration
• Collaborate on schematic capture and PCB design using Altium
• Support component selection and signal integrity analysis
• Provide technical support to a small multi-disciplinary team of Engineers on specific projects
• Seek and share good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve own practices
• Provide support to the learning and development of other Engineers within SEA through mentorship and expert advice
• Support and facilitate reviews and approvals of electronic designs in accordance with business and industry standards
• Provide input to Company standards pertaining to Electronic Engineering including calculations, CAD models, manufacturing drawings & schematics and technical reports
• Support SEA products through manufacturing, assembly, installation and service life
• Support the preparation and submission of bids and proposals, including interfacing with customers and suppliers and generating engineering estimates

Theskills you need

• Expert in VHDL/Verilog and FPGA toolchains (Intel Quartus, AMD Vivado)
• Strong understanding of digital electronics and embedded systems
• Be versatile to provide input in other programming languages and simulation tools such as MATLAB, C and Python is desired but not essential
• Knowledge of communication protocols and real-time systems
• Contribute to the design and development of Analogue and Digital Electronic Circuits.
• Understanding of PCB design from Schematic capture to PCB layout
• Ability to follow a methodical/systematic approach to analyse and solve problems, identifying key facts and breaking down complex information to components parts
• Full lifecycle experience from requirements decomposition to acceptance and user sign off on multi-disciplinary programmes
• Experience of requirements capture, analysis, V&V and configuration management
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Able to produce clear and concise technical documentation
• Demonstrable ability to plan and execute technical assignments
