The Role:

We currently have a vacancy for a Delivery Area Test Engineer Lead working on a flagship programme in the UK. The role will include responsibility for Planning, Development and Maintenance of test scripts and Test Reporting using both industry standard Manual and Automation test suites and custom developed frameworks. The testing process will follow a hybrid Waterfall and Agile development and release process that supports critical customer mission goals around National Security using manual and automated testing techniques and tools.

Responsible for conducting analysis of requirements and designs, and from this developing a risk-based test approach to provide test assurance in support of our change pipeline. Duties may include providing research and assistance with implementation of community policies and guidance.  Employees may also support business process improvements or systems analysis for missions, systems, and fiscal requirements

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team.

What will I be doing?

  • Work independently, or with a team of software and systems engineers; must be knowledgeable in industry-standard testing tools and methodologies.
  • Responsible for the creation of test plans, procedures and reports detailing the test process and infrastructure to appropriately assess that products/deliverables meet defined requirements.
  • Responsible for briefing the customer on any Test reviews – TRR / TER and DRBs.
  • Establish the test approach and defect tracking workflow for multiple change projects.
  • Contribute to the scrum teams, participate in daily scrums, and be proactive on work tasks and obstacle resolution.
  • Must be a dynamic, innovative, self-starting problem solver that can operate with minimal supervision.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Excellent understanding of the Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing such as Functional and Integration Testing.
  • Demonstrable Systems Integration experience including integrating 3rd party systems or components.
  • Able to understand existing Test Process and identify improvements and efficiencies.
  • Experience of creating Test Cases based on requirements and design documents.
  • Experience of Test Leading, Coordination, Planning, Reporting and Test Control.
  • Knowledge or experience with software testing frameworks (e.g. Katalon Studio, Selenium, SoapUI, Junit, DART, or similar).
  • Knowledge or experience Agile workload management and bug tracking (e.g. Jira, BitBucket, or similar).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment testing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Self-motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to find out missing information.

It would be desirable if you had experience in any of the following:

  • Working with large-scale and complex integration programmes.
  • Performance testing and measurement of integrated systems.
  • Organizing/supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) prior to Production deployment.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools.
  • Negative testing concepts and risk assessment reporting.

Were seeking a Product Quality Engineeron a 12 month fixed term contract to play a pivotal role in improving product quality both in-house and in the field for an advanced range of high-technology products. The Opportunity

As the go-to person for product quality performance, youll lead quality improvement initiatives, resolve escalated issues, and partner with cross-functional teams to embed quality excellence into every stage of production. From investigating field failures to enhancing internal controls, youll have the autonomy to make a tangible impact on product performance and customer satisfaction.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Act as the primary contact for product quality performance
  • Lead investigations into escalated quality issues, including running 8D problem-solving processes
  • Analyse field failures and drive internal corrective actions
  • Support operations in embedding quality into processes and coaching teams in improvement techniques
  • Track and report key quality KPIs for both field and in-house performance
  • Ensure efficient and effective CAPA closure across the site
  • Collaborate with supplier quality teams to address supplier-related failures
  • Contribute to NPI (New Product Introduction) activities through audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement recommendations

What Were Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience in product quality improvement (theory and practice)
  • Strong skills in interpreting field failures and identifying internal solutions
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with core quality tools such as 8D problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills

Preferred:

  • SPC and Six Sigma training (Green Belt or higher)
  • Knowledge of APQP, Control Plans, and FMEA
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
  • Understanding of ISO9001 requirements
  • Experience with fibre laser technology (advantageous but not essential)

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field
  • Quality Engineering or Six Sigma qualifications advantageous
