Join Telent in a Senior role, in protecting the UK’s critical Defence infrastructure. As a Senior SCIDA Site Engineer, you will take ownership of delivering SCIDA services across allocated RAF sites within the Dorset / Hampshire counties, acting as a trusted authority on engineering compliance, ICT assurance and Defence standards.

This role sits within the SCIDA (Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority) programme - a mandated MOD function responsible for assuring the design, installation and compliance of ICT infrastructure across Defence environments. You will work closely with RAF site teams, Technical Authorities, Project Managers and senior stakeholders to ensure operational continuity while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and engineering compliance.

Eligibility for SC Security Clearance is required, with DV (Developed Vetting) potentially required depending on the sites you operate on.

The Role

As a Senior SCIDA Site Engineer, you will deliver SCIDA services in accordance with the Air SCIDA contract and JSP 453 / JSP453, JSP 440 / JSP440 and Ap 600 / AP600 standards, taking responsibility for allocated sites within your Area of Responsibility (AOR). You will act as the focal point for engineering standards, support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), lead audits and assurance activities, and provide expert guidance across complex ICT installations.

This is a Senior level, hands-on field based role with accountability for stakeholder engagement, assurance delivery and continuous improvement across Defence environments.

Senior SCIDA Site Engineer - What You’ll Do

SCIDA Service Delivery

  • Take ownership of SCIDA service provision for allocated sites in line with Air SCIDA Engineering Instructions
  • Act as the primary engineering authority for standards including JSP 453, JSP 440 and AP 600
  • Attend siting boards, surveys and RAF/MOD meetings as required
  • Support ECR submission, review and progression for all ICT installation changes
  • Conduct audits, inspections and post-installation assurance activities
  • Provide briefings and technical advice to RAF personnel, contractors and site teams
  • Maintain regular engagement with site Engineering staff and the Area Manager

Engineering & Project Support

  • Act as a Hybrid Technical Advisor (TA) from time to time, supporting Technical Authorities and projects
  • Support the development and progression of CIS Specifications for TA-assisted projects
  • Chair site engineering meetings and ECR reviews when required
  • Explain engineering compliance requirements to Site Executives and OC Engineers
  • Undertake site and facility assessments to determine SCIDA support requirements
  • Produce basic costings and recommendations for SCIDA service delivery
  • Provide specialist engineering or project management expertise as required

Leadership, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to Engineering Instructions and SCIDA documentation

Experience

25 years experience in commercial gas maintenance.

Experience within a mobile FM environment desirable.

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability

Proven commercial HVAC / Gas maintenance experience
Good electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
Full UK Driving Licence
Strong understanding of Health & Safety

ACRIB Gold Skills Card (Desirable)

Understanding of F-Gas compliance and environmental regulations.

Electrical qualification or knowledge

Asbestos awareness (Desirable)

Experience working under the SFG20 framework for maintenance schedules.

Experience with larger complex sites, or critical plant systems (e.g. chillers, large AHUs).

5 Years Industry Experience in similar position (Preferred)

Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) or Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) (Preferred)

Working in DevOps, you’ll build and maintain the systems that let teams respond quickly to needs. You’llwork on high-impact projects, helping to build reliable, scalable systems. We align work to industry-recognised roles such as Build & Release Engineer (BRE), Platform Engineer (PLE) or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and, where needed, to more specialised areas such as security, cloud hosting, infrastructure or networking.

It’s not the same as your standard Devops Consultant job. Depending on your client’s needs, you’ll take on a range of roles. These will include:

  • Taking the lead on responding to outages, triaging issues, balancing stakeholder priorities/concerns, and keeping communication channels open with all parties.
  • Developing, and implementing continuous deployment solutions that help our clients to deliver software faster and more efficiently.
  • Collaborating with our clients to understand their ways of working and will have an enthusiasm to learn new tools and technologies as needed.
  • Contributing within Opencast communities.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with Opencast’s quality, environmental, and information security policies and procedures, as well as applicable customer policies, standards, and procedures while working on client.

Salary:

  • £50,000 - £60,000
