We are currently recruiting for multiple Avionic Software Engineers to join our new
Leonardo office in Newcastle’s Helix Innovation district.
The Avionic Software Engineers will be responsible for the design, development, test and
qualification of the Avionic components for both military and civil applications.
What you will do as an Avionic Software Engineer:
Main responsibilities are relevant to the execution of the following activities performed
together with others team members:
Analysis of the input requirements both internal (i.e. System Specification) and
external (Contractual Requirements), interacting with Final Customers, other LHD
department and Suppliers and generating the Mission Software Requirements.
Identification of the Sub system design solution which include HMI, Functional and
Interface aspects according to the Input Requirement, Avionic Architecture and
Supplier Technical Product Specification;
Identify a high level SW Architecture and Validation Strategy definition
Contribute to the Sub System design reviews;
Development and execution of SW coding and testing
Documents and reports preparation in support of reviews
Support the SW D&D and Qualification Activities ensuring the respect and updating
of the SW Sub System Requirement;
Interaction with others internal Departments (System Engineering, helicopter Chief
Project Engineer, Flight Test Engineer, Pilots, Procurement, etc.), Customers and external suppliers.

What you really must have:
Degree/HND in relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science, Avionics/Electronics/Software/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Robotics,
Telecomms/Networking etc) or equivalent experience
Good knowledge of Object Oriented programming
Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
Capabilities to work in cross-functional team environments
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
Good knowledge of Configuration Control and associated Tools
Decision making on complex and uncertain Design and Development context
Focused to work in line with standards, rules and objectives
Matlab, Simulink, model based design
It would be nice if you had:
Experience on software development and software V&V with reference to the RTCA
DO-178B/C or equivalent.
Good Knowledge on avionics (Mil-Std-1553, Arinc 429, Serials, Afdx) and General
Protocol (i. e. Ethernet);
Cyber Security Aspects
Good Knowledge on communication Protocols used in industrial sector
Knowledge of international Software Development standards applicable to industrial
sector
Good knowledge of Requirements Analysis for complex systems on industrial sector
(e.g. automotive, aerospace, naval, etc)
Agile Development
