Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-endAWS cloud architecturesfor high-availability, secure, and scalable government systems
- Define and maintainsolution architecture blueprints, HLDs, LLDs, and technical roadmaps
- Lead architectural decisions acrossmicroservices, event-driven architecture, and serverless patterns
- Ensure solutions comply withGDS (Government Digital Service) standards,NCSC security principles, and DWP architecture governance
- Provide technical leadership across DevOps, engineering, and platform teams
- Definecloud landing zones, networking (VPCs, subnets, routing), and multi-account AWS strategies
- Support implementation ofCI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
- Ensure robustsecurity architecture(IAM, encryption, secrets management, zero trust principles)
- Evaluate and select AWS services (eg, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, RDS)
- Work with solution designers and engineers to ensure designs are implemented correctly
- Participate inarchitecture review boards (ARB)and governance forums
- Identify risks, technical debt, and propose remediation strategies
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as aTechnical Architect or Senior Solution Architect
- Extensive hands-on experience withAWS cloud platform
- Background in designinglarge-scale, distributed systems
- Strong understanding of:
- Microservices architecture
- Event-driven systems (SNS/SQS/Kinesis/EventBridge)
- Serverless architecture
- Experience withInfrastructure as Code(Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
- Knowledge ofcontainerisation(Docker, Kubernetes/EKS)
- Strong understanding ofnetworking, security, and identity in AWS
- Experience working inUK public sector or regulated environments(preferred)
- Familiarity withGDS Service Standardsand agile delivery models
- Ability to produce high-quality architectural documentation
