Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Commissioning Engineer on a 4 Month Contract, based in Northwest Wales Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support delivery activities on a major National Grid infrastructure project in Northwest Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe planning, execution, and documentation of commissioning activities associated with HV substation and transmission systems. This role requires strong experience within National Grid environments, a solid understanding of commissioning procedures, and the ability to coordinate effectively with site teams, SAPs, contractors, and client representatives to ensure successful energisation and handover. Key Responsibilities Plan and execute commissioning activities in line with project specifications, safety standards, and National Grid procedures Carry out testing and commissioning of HV plant and equipment including: \* Protection systems \* Transformers \* Switchgear \* CTs/VTs \* Control and SCADA systems \* Review and interpret: \* Single line diagrams \* Protection schematics \* Wiring diagrams \* Commissioning procedures Requirements Essential Requirements \* Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer on National Grid or HV transmission projects \* Strong background in HV substation commissioning (132kV–400kV preferred) \* Knowledge of National Grid commissioning procedures and safety rules \* Experience working with protection relays and control systems \* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics \* Familiarity with commissioning documentation and handover processes \* Excellent communication and coordination skills \* Full UK driving licence \* Right to work in the UK Preferred Qualifications & Certifications \* HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline \* National Grid Competent Person / Authorised Person certification \* TP141 or equivalent National Grid training \* CSCS/ECS card \* SMSTS or SSSTS \* First Aid qualification Desirable Experience Previous experience on transmission infrastructure upgrades or new build substations Knowledge of IEC 61850 systems Experience with SCADA integration and testing Familiarity with relay manufacturers such as Siemens, GE, ABB, or Schneider Our Company Rubicon Consulting is a Talent management consultancy which helps you to optimise business performance and competitive advantage by choosing the right people first time
