MOD Systems Engineer (Design & Delivery) (132jc) – Remote – circa £50k + Benefits This role is aimed squarely at ex–Royal Signals Technicians who know their way around radio systems and want to stay close to the kit. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY. If you’ve worked with RF, LMR, TETRA, DMR or similar systems and want a role where you’re still hands-on designing, delivering and fixing real-world comms systems this will suit you. Due to the nature of this role, they are seeking individuals living in the Midlands as you will have to cover the UK military sites as well as Cyprus, Gibraltar, Kenya, and of course Germany and you will be expected to be travelling up to 75% of the time. In this role you will be involved across the full lifecycle — not stuck behind a desk. \* Designing and planning comms systems \* Supporting installs, commissioning and acceptance \* Working on TETRA, DMR, LTE/MCX and RF infrastructure \* Running and supporting FAT/SAT testing \* Fault finding and fixing issues on live systems \* Supporting systems once they’re in service As stated, there is a mix of home, site and field work. You’ll need to be comfortable getting involved at every stage. What They’re Looking For Must-have: \* Background in radio comms / RF systems (ideally military) \* Experience with repeaters, antennas, feeders, infrastructure \* Understanding of LMR systems \* Ability to fault find and solve problems properly \* Experience with installs, commissioning or system delivery Also required: \* Eligible for SC Clearance \* Full UK driving licence \* Willingness to travel Good to Have (not essential): \* Experience in defence or secure environments \* Knowledge of IP networking linked to comms systems \* Any manufacturer training (Motorola, Sepura, Hytera etc.) Why This Role? Good starting salary circa £50k, with over time you can also earn an additional £5 – 10K on top, this is a hands on engineering role, and not just paperwork and you will be working on current MoD operational Comms Systems in the UK and overseas, and could be an ideal step for someone who is leaving the Royal Signals. In old speak, we are looking for a traditional Radio Tech who wants to get more involved with current systems and technologies.
