Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Contract – Initial 6 Months

Morson are currently recruiting a Maintenance Engineer (electrical bias) to join the reliability maintenance engineering team at GKN Aerospace in Burnley. This is an initial 6-month contract supporting a complex, safety-critical aerospace manufacturing environment.
The Role
Working as part of a site-based reliability team, you will support onsite production by delivering both planned preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown support across a range of manufacturing equipment.
You will be expected to work proactively, using structured fault-finding techniques to resolve issues safely and effectively, while also identifying opportunities to reduce repeat failures and improve overall equipment reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out scheduled preventive maintenance activities
- Responding to machine breakdowns and applying safe fault-finding and repair techniques
- Proactively identifying root causes and proposing reliability improvements
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function
- Reporting findings in a clear, structured, and professional manner to the customer
Desirable Experience
Experience in some or all of the following would be advantageous:
- CNC machines
- Automation and control systems
- Heat treatment equipment
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Pressure vessels
- Compressors and vacuum pumps
- Electrical schematics and drawings
- PLC I/O fault diagnostics
Candidate Skills & Requirements
- Time-served apprenticeship in a maintenance engineering discipline
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings
- Electrical or mechanical bias, with a good all-round skillset
- Comfortable working within a regulated manufacturing environment
Additional / Beneficial Qualifications
- IPAF certification
- FLT licence
