In this newly created role, you’ll be at the forefront of our data protection programme, ensuring its smooth operation, governance, and continuous improvement.

Your Key Responsibilities

As our Data Protection Manager, you will:

  • Own and maintain the NG Bailey Data Protection strategy, framework, and improvement plan.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data protection initiatives and manage their ongoing effectiveness.
  • Monitor regulatory, legislative, and technological developments related to data protection.
  • Produce assurance reports for senior leadership and governance committees.
  • Coordinate and chair data protection forums and compliance discussions.
  • Champion privacy by design and provide expert guidance as a trusted business partner.
  • Create and manage internal and external data protection policies and documents.
  • Develop training programs to raise awareness and understanding of data protection.
  • Manage data breaches from investigation to resolution, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all data protection matters.
  • Ensure compliance with subject access requests and other data privacy rights.
  • Conduct assurance reviews to assess compliance with our data protection framework.
  • Guide on lawful processing of personal data in collaboration with the Group Legal team.
What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A strong understanding of data protection law and proven experience in running a data protection programme.
  • Experience in a large organization with complex processing activities, ideally in the private sector or construction.
  • A recognized qualification in data protection, information governance, or information security.
  • Skills in managing complex rights requests, DPIAs, and data mapping.
  • The ability to interpret regulatory developments and communicate impacts clearly.
  • High IT literacy, particularly with SharePoint, or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize under pressure.
  • Good project management skills and a structured approach to work.
  • Experience in influencing and collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • A track record of supporting major change or improvement programmes.
  • Experience working to assurance and regulatory standards.
