Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Tailings London, UK £60,000 - £70,000 A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialising in tailings to join its expanding London-based team. With a strong pipeline of global mining and mine waste projects, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior role within a highly respected, technically driven environment. The Role You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical design and advisory services across a range of mining and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on tailings storage facilities and mine waste management. Key responsibilities include: Developing design bases from project data, including client specifications, drawings and reports
Leading and delivering geotechnical designs (earthworks, embankments, dams, excavations, foundations and impoundments)
Planning, budgeting and managing project assignments from concept through to delivery
Interpreting site investigation and laboratory data to inform design decisions
Reviewing technical reports, drawings and specifications
Overseeing and directing geotechnical site investigations and fieldwork programmes
Producing clear, concise technical reports for clients
Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
Acting as a key client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships
Supporting business development, including proposal writing and identifying new opportunities in the mining sector Requirements Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline
Ideally a Masters (or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics or similar
8+ years’ experience in geotechnical design
Strong experience in mining, tailings or mine waste management preferred
Proven ability to manage projects and lead technical delivery
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise directly with clients
