Our client, a leading player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role involves collaborating with functional teams to develop products that meet customer requirements and engaging in cutting-edge research of novel mechanical technologies. Key Responsibilities: Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, including both piece parts and assemblies.
Support and liaise with manufacturing teams to resolve manufacturing problems and defects.
Provide support for functional and environmental testing and trials.
Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing departments to resolve technical queries.
Plan and report on day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
Gain and clarify requirements, and challenge extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, costs, and design complexity. Job Requirements: Experience using Creo 3D design tool.

Security Clearance: SC; potential BPSS start
Contract Length: 6 months with possible extension
Work Schedule: 4 days a week on-site; 1 day remote, with flexible start/finish times
UK travel: Rare
Educational Background: Degree, HND/HNC beneficial but not mandatory
Industry Experience: Preferably Defence/Aerospace, but open to other relevant sectors such as Automotive and Oil & Gas
