Apt Talent Solutions are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join their on-site team supporting the critical infrastructure at a key contract in Buckinghamshire.
Job Summary
The Mechanical Ventilation Engineer will be responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and installation of all mechanical ventilation and air handling systems across the site. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal air quality, temperature control, and compliance within the facilities.
The successful candidate must possess deep technical knowledge of large-scale ventilation systems and an unwavering commitment to health and safety regulations, particularly within a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) routines on all ventilation equipment, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), extraction systems, fans, motors, dampers, VAV/VRF systems, and ductwork.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns, diagnosing complex mechanical faults and implementing effective, long-term repairs.
- Conduct detailed inspections of ductwork systems, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with industry standards (e.g., TR19 Fire Safety requirements).
- Perform essential tasks such as belt replacement, bearing lubrication, filter changes, and fan speed adjustments/balancing.
- Collaborate closely with the wider HVAC and M&E teams to ensure system synergy and efficiency.
- Oversee and manage specialist sub-contractors when necessary, ensuring all work adheres to site standards and specifications.
Formal Qualification:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent City & Guilds qualification) in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or Ventilation Systems.
- Full UK Drivers Licence
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in maintaining and installing large-scale mechanical ventilation systems, preferably within commercial, industrial, or critical environments.
