Workshop Engineer (Forklifts & Material Handling Equipment)
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Salary: £15 – £18 per hour (DOE) | £31,200 – £37,440
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm | 40 hours per week - Overtime Available
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Workshop Engineer to join their growing team in Loughborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work within a well-established and supportive business, maintaining a modern fleet of forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Service, repair and maintain forklift trucks and material handling equipment
• Carry out diagnostics across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs
• Conduct thorough examinations, including LOLER-style inspections
• Prepare equipment for hire and dispatch, ensuring high-quality standards
• Complete job sheets and service reports accurately
• Liaise with the parts department to ensure efficient turnaround of repairs
• Carry out in-house servicing, refurbishment and rebuild work
• Fault finding and repair on both internal combustion (IC) and electric trucks
• Support other engineers when required and contribute to team productivity
• Ensure all machines are workshop-ready for the hire fleet
• Work closely with the Service Manager to maintain workflow and output
  Skills & Experience:
• Background in forklift, plant, HGV or material handling industries
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability
• Good understanding of hydraulic systems
• Ability to work independently within a workshop environment
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail with paperwork
• A proactive and team-oriented approach
