Duration: Permanent Hours: 37.5 per week 8am - 4pm (Monday to Friday)

Job Reference: 36071 Polytec are looking for a Mechanical Engineer for a local technology company to support the transition of products from development into production. This role will focus on improving manufacturability, developing processes and supporting ongoing production operations. Responsibilities:

  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, ensuring designs are suitable for production and assembly
  • Collaborate with design teams to deliver practical, manufacturable mechanical solutions
  • Design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs and test equipment
  • Create and maintain clear assembly instructions, build procedures and production documentation
  • Establish and improve manufacturing processes to ensure consistency, quality and efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve quality and shorten build times
  • Provide hands-on support to resolve mechanical issues in production and testing environments
  • Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues
  • Support engineering change and configuration control processes
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams, including supplier interaction where required Requirements:
    Essential:
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in manufacturing, production engineering or mechanical design
  • Proficient with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or similar)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly methods
  • Experience designing tooling, fixtures or test equipment
  • Proven problem-solving skills within a production environment
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Able to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on, proactive and adaptable approach Desirable:
  • Experience supporting products from prototype to production is beneficial
