We work closely together to provide complex repairs in support of planned major repair activities and wing major test programmes, as well as developing pre-defined repair solutions to support Daily Repair turnaround times. We enjoy the challenge of creating and delivering repairs for any sort of damage, anywhere on the wing! ABOUT THE ROLE Working as part of a multiskilled team you will be responsible for completing Fatigue & Damage Tolerance analysis and justifications for metallic and composite structures. Your primary role will be to work closely with Design and Static Stress engineers to assess and validate repairs to damaged aircraft structures. Additional tasks may include managing the offload of packages of work to suppliers, presenting major repair scoping to senior stakeholders, and guiding and supporting sub-contract suppliers providing structural analysis work. You will ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities guidelines. The role provides an excellent development opportunity by exposing to complex In-service issues and continued airworthiness process HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM - Performing F&DT analysis and compiling justification reports for repair designs using approved methods and tools, working closely with skilled Design and Static Stress engineers to develop optimum repairs. - Providing technical guidance and support to the internal teams, including the offshore teams, and any suppliers as required. - Where necessary, leading packages of work, and integrating with Design and Static Stress teams for a major incident or complex activities. - Developing methods and processes for repair analysis, working with method experts and tool owners to enhance the analysis capability of the repair teams. As well as working with the NDT specialist, developing inspection processes for repaired aircraft. - When required, providing support to the repair team on other structure perimeters such as Fuselage, Empennage, High-Lift devices, etc. ABOUT YOU - You are a highly skilled aerospace structural analysis engineer. - You enjoy working as part of a wider team to develop effective solutions to complex technical problems. - You organise and monitor tasks so that work progresses efficiently and meets customer expectations. - You collaborate well in a team, and are able to work with other teams and individuals inside and outside the business (e.g. external subcontractors) to ensure efficient delivery of tasks. - You possess excellent communication skills. ESSENTIAL SKILLS - Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience. - An aerospace F&DT engineering background. - Experience of F&DT analysis of aircraft structures using a range of processes, methods, and toolsets (ISAMI, GISEH) and experience generating Technical Dossiers/Reports. - Technical understanding of metallic and composite structures with an emphasis on F&DT analysis. - An understanding of the fundamental methods of fatigue and damage tolerance analysis and an ability to develop these methods. - Understanding of the airworthiness regulations. - An understanding and ability to decide, with a good rationale, on how the repair design affects the F&DT of aircraft structure. - An ability to choose and apply appropriate analysis methods to the repair design. - Ability to liaise/negotiate with Design, Customer Services and suppliers. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). - The ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables. - The capability to work under pressure and ensure the delivery is technically correct, on time and on quality within the tight time constraints. - Be pragmatic, able to solve the problem and ability to make decisions based on a good engineering rationale
