About the Global Field Engineering Team

The Global Field Engineering (GFE) team is a dynamic group of broadcast engineers dedicated to managing and deploying technical equipment for live sports and news broadcasts across Warner Bros. Discovery networks, including TNT Sports, Eurosport, and CNN. Based in the USA, UK, and UAE, we deliver seamless broadcast operations in fast-paced environments.

This year, our London team has successfully brought major events like European Premier League football, the French Open, and various US-based REMI operations to sports fans worldwide. We’re also gearing up for exciting upcoming events, including the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics and more!

Additionally, we support CNN with real-time coverage of significant global events, ensuring that our viewers stay informed and engaged.

Your New Role

As the Director of Global Field Engineering , you will report to the VP of Global Field Engineering and lead our International Field Engineering Team. Your mission? To ensure the efficient deployment of field engineering resources across TNT Sports, Eurosport, and CNN while delivering exceptional service to our stakeholders.

This role will involve a mix of working from our Old Street and Chiswick offices, along with frequent travel to sports events to evaluate live productions and consult with onsite customers.

Your Role Accountabilities

Team Management

• Lead, hire, train, and oversee a talented team of approximately 12 members across EMEA.
• Manage a dedicated team providing 24/7 broadcast and IT services for live sports and news broadcasts.
• Drive the evolution of team capabilities through recruitment, onboarding, and delegation.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Collaboration and Process Improvement

• Engage with Eurosport leaders and TNT Sport technical operations teams to plan and staff events.
• Assist the VP in setting department goals that align with stakeholder priorities.
• Manage budget and staffing requirements, adapting to resource fluctuations.
• Work closely with News & Sports Planning to enhance resource efficiency.
• Explore and implement new field technology to optimize remote executions.

Remote Execution and Event Coordination

• Travel frequently to sports events to evaluate live productions and identify efficiencies.
• Ensure timely delivery of field production technology for live broadcasts.
• Oversee event productions in collaboration with Sports & News programming teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience in managing senior events execution and field technology teams within a News and Sports media organization.
• Extensive experience in live and sports field technology deployments.
• Strong leadership skills with a knack for motivating and inspiring teams.
• Proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills.
• Experience in budget and expense management.
