The role
The Senior Vice President, Structured Products and Capital Markets leads the origination, structuring, execution, and lifecycle management of warehouse and forward flow transactions backed by consumer and SME receivables, primarily underwritten by fintech originators. The role is responsible for driving new transaction activity end-to-end - from initial pipeline development through financial modelling, due diligence, negotiation, and investment committee approval - while developing junior team members.
Responsibilities Transaction Origination & Execution
- Originate new ABL and ABF warehouse and forward flow transactions backed by consumer and SME receivables from fintech originators.
- Lead initial originator discussions to assess deal viability and alignment with Fasanara’s mandates and risk appetite.
- Structure transactions across senior, stretched senior, mezzanine, and whole loan funding (levered and unlevered).
- Negotiate and agree transaction terms with originators, co-lenders, leverage providers and all relevant transaction parties.
- Manage end-to-end execution, including engagement with internal and external legal counsel on long-form transaction documentation and overseeing closing/post-closing activities.
Financial Modelling & Portfolio Analysis
- Build and maintain bespoke financial models in Excel to structure and forecast transaction performance across multiple scenarios (e.g. stress testing defaults, prepayments, and recoveries).
- Analyse historical portfolio and receivable performance to determine returns, excess spread, trigger levels, concentration limits, eligibility criteria, defaults, prepayments, and recoveries.
- Develop and write VBA code where model complexity, iterations, or nested scenario analysis requires it.
- Utilise Python (including writing scripts from scratch) for large-scale data analysis where Excel is insufficient.
Originator Due Diligence
- Conduct comprehensive originator due diligence (DD), including review of DD questionnaires, underwriting policies, financials, servicing procedures, and audit reports.
- Coordinate and lead on-site DD visits, engaging with originator teams across operations, underwriting, credit, and finance.
- Collate and present findings in on-site DD reports and investment committee (IC) memos.
- Liaise with Compliance to carry out KYC on originators in line with regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Act as the primary relationship manager for transaction parties on all led deals.
- Collaborate closely with the Risk team to ensure transactions meet internal risk requirements and to support ongoing monitoring.
- Work with the Operations team to provide required documentation (including audited financials) for audit and reporting purposes.
- Coordinate with handover to the relevant asset management, operations and risk teams.
- Liaise with internal and external legal counsel throughout execution.
People Management & Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop junior team members.
- Review all junior output (analysis, models, documentation) with detailed feedback and direct corrections where necessary.
- Train junior staff across all aspects of transaction execution and risk assessment.
- Lead or direct junior resources on workstreams, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Independent Authority
- Lead and direct junior resources on portfolio analysis, legal document review, and financial modelling.
- Act as primary relationship manager for transaction parties on all led transactions.
- Progress deal workstreams and advance transactions to execution-ready stage.
- Determine when issues require escalation to line manager.
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in structured finance, asset-backed lending, or capital markets, ideally within a credit fund, investment bank, or specialty lender.
- Strong track record in deal origination, execution, and management of senior, mezzanine, or whole loan transactions.
- Experience conducting originator or borrower due diligence.
- Proficiency in Excel financial modelling; experience with VBA and/or Python is an advantage.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
Desirable
- Exposure to fintech originators and consumer or SME lending markets.
- Familiarity with rating agency stress methodologies.
- A professional qualification such as CFA, ACA, or equivalent, although this is not required and would be considered an advantage.
