Role Overview
Our client, operating in the financial services space, is scaling out a modern, event-driven platform and needs a Back-End Developer who can operate across the full lifecycle.
This is not a narrow coding role. You will take ownership of services from design through to deployment and production support, working in a DevOps-led environment with high standards around reliability and security.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, building, testing, and deploying backend services and APIs end-to-end
- Owning build, release, and operational responsibilities for your services
- Developing cloud-native applications using C# / .NET within Azure
- Building event-driven architectures using Azure-native services
- Deploying and managing containerised workloads via Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Defining infrastructure using Terraform in line with engineering standards
- Implementing messaging patterns with Azure Service Bus and/or Kafka
- Designing data solutions across Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and storage services
- Exposing APIs using Azure API Manager (APIM)
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and maintaining high standards across security, performance, and reliability
- Working closely with architects and platform teams in an agile delivery setup
What They’re Looking For
- Strong backend engineering experience using C# / .NET
- Proven experience working within Microsoft Azure environments
- Background in financial services (banking, insurance, fintech, or similar)
- Solid understanding of SQL and data modelling
- Experience with distributed systems or microservices architectures
- Hands-on exposure to:
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Event-driven architectures
- Azure Service Bus or Kafka
- Azure API Manager (APIM)
- Monitoring tools such as Log Analytics / Application Insights
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile delivery teams
- Strong communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Why This Role
- Direct exposure to a financial services end client with complex, high-impact systems
- Full ownership across engineering and DevOps, not just delivery
- Modern Azure stack with event-driven architecture and containerisation
- Hybrid working model with meaningful in-person collaboration
- Strong likelihood of extension beyond the initial 6 months
If you have a Microsoft stack background and experience delivering within financial services, this is a high-quality contract with immediate impact.
