Lead Electronics Engineer (High-Power & RF Systems)

As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you will play a senior technical role in the design and development of high-power electronic subsystems, working on next-generation technologies used in defence, aerospace, and security applications.
Based in Great Baddow with a hybrid working model (2-3 days onsite), this role offers the opportunity to act as a technical authority, guide delivery teams, and support the growth of advanced electronics capability within a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Act as a technical lead for high-power and RF electronics development
- Design and review analogue electronics for complex, real-world systems
- Work on advanced, next-generation technologies within regulated environments
- Provide technical guidance across the full design and development lifecycle
- Build strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Support bid activities and help shape technically deliverable programmes
- Mentor and develop early-career engineers within high-performing teams
Your Responsibilities
As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you will:
- Lead the design, development, and technical assurance of high-power electronic subsystems
- Provide subject-matter expertise across analogue and RF electronics design
- Supervise and review technical work produced by engineers across the team
- Support system definition, trade studies, and design decision-making
- Engage with customers and partners to clarify technical requirements and constraints
- Contribute to bid responses and programme definition from a technical perspective
- Promote best practice engineering standards and continuous improvement
- Mentor junior and graduate engineers in a collaborative environment
Key Requirements
As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you should have:
- Strong analogue electronics design experience at a mid- to senior-level
- Background in RF products or RF-adjacent electronic systems
- Experience working on complex electronic systems in high-reliability environments
- Willingness to work with emerging technologies and evolving system requirements
- Ability to act as a technical authority within multi-disciplinary teams
- Clear, effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Eligibility to meet UK security and export control requirements
