Our client is a world‑class hedge fund, recognised for its elite technology organisation and scientific, data‑driven culture. They are now seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to join a global team operating at the core of a large‑scale, mission‑critical Linux environment powering cutting‑edge quantitative research and high‑performance trading.
This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the industry’s most advanced Linux estates-hands‑on across high‑availability platforms, large compute clusters, and automation tooling-while partnering with exceptional engineers to elevate observability, resilience, and platform automation. As a key member of the global infrastructure support organisation, you will help support, scale, and evolve the firm’s next‑generation Linux trading and research platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, support, and optimise Linux‑based trading and research platforms within a high‑availability, ultra‑low‑latency production environment.
- Deploy new infrastructure and manage end‑to‑end server lifecycle processes, from bare‑metal installation through to full OS provisioning.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation, monitoring, and observability, driving efficiency, reliability, and long‑term scalability.
- Troubleshoot complex production incidents, conduct deep‑dive root‑cause analysis, and implement enduring stability improvements.
- Produce and maintain high‑quality documentation while contributing to process refinement and knowledge sharing across the global infrastructure group.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation and provide occasional out‑of‑hours (primarily remote) support.
Key Requirements
- 4+ years’ experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or Linux platform support within high‑availability, mission‑critical environments.
- Strong hands‑on Linux administration experience with Red Hat, CentOS, or Rocky Linux.
- Proven experience delivering full server lifecycle builds, including hardware installation, OS deployment, and configuration.
- Solid understanding of AMD and Intel server hardware, with the ability to troubleshoot at both system and component level.
- Practical experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
- Scripting proficiency in Python and Bash for automation, tooling, and operational workflows.
