Principal Data Scientist - Healthcare

Our client is a Leading Digital Transformation Consultancy named a Times Top 100 Company To Work For for seven consecutive years.

As a Principal Data Scientist, you will play a key role in delivering large-scale, high-impact AI solutions across government, healthcare, defence, and commercial sectors. You will provide technical and strategic leadership, shaping AI and data science practices while ensuring responsible, scalable, and production-grade deployment of advanced machine learning, generative, and agentic AI solutions.

Working at the forefront of AI innovation, you will engage with senior stakeholders, including C-level executives, to translate complex technical concepts into measurable business value. This is a senior, client-facing role suited to experienced data scientists who are comfortable leading teams, mentoring talent, and influencing the adoption of modern AI development practices and cloud-native architectures.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Lead delivery of complex, production-grade AI/ML solutions at enterprise scale

Your Responsibilities:

• Own technical leadership and delivery accountability for AI/ML programmes
• Design and assure advanced AI/ML models, including time series, supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, LLMs, and agentic AI
• Implement modern AI engineering practices, including prompt engineering, RAG, and orchestration of agentic AI systems
• Lead data engineering for AI, handling large-scale, unstructured, and multimodal data
• Advise clients on responsible AI practices, model interpretability, and ethical considerations
• Translate technical AI concepts into business outcomes for senior stakeholders
• Collaborate with sales and account teams to shape commercial AI offerings
• Build and lead high-performing teams and wider AI/data science communities

Key Requirements:

• Proven track record delivering complex, production-grade AI/ML solutions at scale
• Strong technical leadership experience in AI delivery
• Deep expertise in machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI technologies
• Experience with data engineering for AI and integration of non-traditional data sources
• Understanding of responsible AI principles, ethics, and interpretability
• Strong commercial acumen and experience influencing business outcomes from AI products
• Experience building, mentoring, and leading high-performing teams
• Ability to engage and negotiate with C-level and senior stakeholders

You will gain exposure with:

• Modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and advanced ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost)
• Fine-tuning and distillation of LLMs (e.g., GPT, Llama, Claude, Gemini)
• Data storage for AI, vector databases, semantic search, and knowledge graphs
• Open-source AI projects, research publications, and industry thought leadership
