AMechanical DesignEngineer plays a crucial role in the Aerospace and Defence industry, ensuring that all products and processes meet the highest quality standards. At Quest Global we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-orientedMechanical DesignEngineer with geared transmission systems and components experience to join our team.

As aMechanical DesignEngineer,

Key Responsibilities

• Carry outdetail designactivities to meet the requirements of design for manufacture
• Hand calculationsand preliminary sizing of components, including material selection, shaft and bearing analysis, preliminary rotor dynamics, other drive system elements including structural components, couplings, lubrication systems and bolted joint
• CAD activities including conceptual design, 3D and 2D modelling. Create component and complex assembly drawings. Drawing and technical documentation checking. BOM and gear data generation and engineering change control processing
• Manufacturing drawings generation with a clear understanding and application of Design for Manufacture principles
• Create deliverable documentation including Manuals, Installation and Maintenance instructions as necessary
• Concession/Non-conformance assessment and resolution includinghand calculationsas required, coordination with other specialist areas such as stress analysis etc. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to carry out the design activities, investigate and analyse non-conformance reports, develop corrective actions, and implement effective solutions to prevent future occurrences.

Work Experience

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

• Candidate should be familiar with structural design practices and methodologies, includinghand calculationsto support design.
• Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry,power transmission systems, gear andGear box
• Knowledge about subsystems that impact themechanical design/ layout of the design.
• Proficient in3D CADpackage for both modelling and drawing, ideallySolid Edge
• Ability to interpret and create high quality engineering CAD models and manufacturing drawings, includingGD&T
• Understanding and appreciation of structural analysis and knowledge of FEA/FEM (eg.ANSYSWorkbench)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
• Experienced engineer in design role/environment involving rotating machinery
• Experience in heavy engineering industry,power transmission systems,gearsandgear box
• Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems
• Strong knowledge ofquality management systemsand industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
• Proficient inroot cause analysisandfailure mode analysistechniques.
• Excellent problem-solving andanalytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality andcontinuous improvement.
• Effective communication andinterpersonal skills.
