Your new company
A major energy organisation in Northern Ireland is preparing to deliver a large-scale Hybrid Heating Trial (100+ homes) between 2026 and 2028. This pioneering project will explore the household, decarbonisation and wider energy system benefits of Hybrid Heat Pumps, supporting the transition to low-carbon heating across the region.

To support this work, we are seeking a Hybrid Heating Technical Lead to play a central role in the successful delivery of the Trial and future low-carbon heating initiatives.

Your new role
As the Hybrid Heating Technical Lead, you will provide expert technical guidance throughout the Trial, working closely with homeowners, installers, monitoring partners and internal teams. You will review technical reports, analyse performance data, troubleshoot system issues, and ensure installations meet agreed standards. You will also support the development of annual performance reports and contribute to wider learning across the project.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about renewable energy, low-carbon technologies and the future of home heating. Beyond 2028, the role will continue to support additional low-carbon heating projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess the suitability of potential trial participants through application reviews and direct engagement. Act as the primary technical interface with installation and monitoring partners, resolving technical issues and ensuring adherence to specifications. Provide technical assurance across all installations, including quality checks, system configuration and performance consistency. Monitor Trial data, identify issues, troubleshoot faults and ensure minimal disruption to data collection. Support the project manager and independent academic evaluator with data interpretation and performance reporting. Assist with the allocation of installation grants to participating households. Maintain ongoing engagement with Trial participants, conducting surveys and capturing feedback for reporting.

What you’ll need to succeed

Recognised qualifications in Heating Installations

Minimum 5 years’ experience designing and/or installing heating systems (or clearly relevant equivalent experience)

Strong knowledge of low-temperature heating system design

Experience managing customer relationships

Ability to interpret technical data and resolve issues quickly

Desirable Experience:

Designing or installing heat pump systemsConducting heat loss surveys

Reviewing or processing large volumes of data

Delivering verbal presentations

Producing heating performance reports

Qualifications in low-temperature heating installations

What you’ll get in return
£42,000 per annum plus 6-9% bonus
