Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £40,000-£42,000
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a well-established operation based in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving quality standards within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
The business supplies precision cast components into demanding sectors including engineering, automotive, rail and industrial markets, where compliance, traceability and process control are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 standards
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer and third-party audits
- Conduct root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) and drive corrective & preventive actions
- Support foundry process control including melting, moulding, casting and finishing operations
- Oversee metallurgical and dimensional inspection processes
- Manage non-conformance, concession and customer complaint processes
- Work closely with production, metallurgy and engineering teams to reduce scrap and improve yield
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the foundry
- Maintain quality documentation, control plans, PFMEA and inspection plans
- Liaise directly with customers on technical quality matters
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical processes and casting defects
- Experience with ISO 9001 (IATF 16949 advantageous)
- Competent in root cause analysis methodologies
- Experience with dimensional inspection techniques and CMM (advantageous)
- Strong analytical mindset with a hands-on approach on the shop floor
- Ability to communicate effectively across production and management teams
Qualifications
- Internal Auditor qualification (advantageous)
