Senior Software Engineer | PHP, Laravel/Symfony, AWS | Hybrid

About the Opportunity:

This role sits within a product-led engineering team building and scaling a high-performance platform operating at real-world scale. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on delivering reliable, user-facing systems.

You will play a key role in backend development, contributing to architecture, performance, and long-term platform scalability.

What Youll Be Doing:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using PHP
• Develop and evolve RESTful APIs and core platform services
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
• Optimise performance, scalability, and reliability of applications
• Collaborate with frontend and product teams to deliver new features
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development

What Youll Bring:

• 5+ years commercial experience with PHP
• Strong experience with modern frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony
• Solid understanding of API design and microservices architecture
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with cloud environments, ideally AWS
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and best practices
• Experience working in Agile environments

Nice to Have:

• Experience working on high-traffic or transaction-heavy platforms
• Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
