Roles of a Electrical Assembly Engineer
- Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and harness documentation
- Creating layout drawings, connector diagrams and pinout details
- Preparing wiring cut lists, sleeving and conduit lists for production
- Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials for electrical assemblies
- Managing components such as connectors, terminals, seals, wiring and identification parts
- Defining manufacturing processes including wire preparation, crimping, splicing and harness assembly
- Setting up production routings and manufacturing process flows within internal systems
- Supporting production teams with build issues and improving manufacturability of designs
- Updating engineering documentation, drawings and revisions where required
- Supporting quality investigations and implementing engineering change updates
Requirements of a Electrical Assembly Engineer
- Previous experience in wiring harness engineering or electrical assembly preferred
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Knowledge of crimping, splicing and electrical assembly processes
- Experience producing clear technical documentation for manufacturing
- Competent IT skills and experience using drawing software such as Visio or similar
- ERP system experience preferred but not essential
- Strong attention to detail with a logical and structured approach
- Good communication skills and ability to work with production and quality teams
- Must be able to attend an interview
